I am a writer looking to collaborate with an artist on a 4 page sample scene for a dark, dystopian military-political thriller graphical novel called AIMERLAND.

Visually, the goal is to blend a 2D fully coloured semi realistic artstyle with dramatic cinematic pacing/panel language, like Manga's gekiga genre.

Here's the general premise/hook:

Wayne (18) is a loyal soldier who worships his older brother, Commander Darren; the head and renowned hero of the state. But during a seemingly routine mission to hunt down "traitors", Wayne discovers his brother's authoritarian regime is covering up a devastating famine. Forced to choose between family loyalty and a starving nation, Wayne's decision will teach him what it truly means to lead.

HOW WE'LL COLLABORATE

I'll write in a sort of screenplay/script sort of style. Meaning I can handle story beats, dialogue and character actions, but you have total creative freedom over panel layouts and page breaks. So we can blend my written storytelling with your visual expertise.

PROJECT GOAL

I don't have a corporate budget right now, so this'll be an unpaid partnership; useful for portfolios, building skills and things of that nature.

The immediate long-term goal if this partnership works out very well is to use this 4-page sample scene as a pitch to a publisher.

I am a 17 year old writer looking for a passionate 2D digital artist to collaborate with on a 4 page sample for a mature political thriller graphic novel called AIMERLAND.

I have the story direction, themes and early chapter ideas.

Visually, the goal is to blend a 2D semi-realistic style with the dramatic cinematic pacing of the Gekiga genre, produced in a fully coloured print graphic novel format.

Here's My Pitch:

AIMERLAND is a dark, slow-burn political thriller featuring an all-Black cast. Wayne (18) is a loyal soldier who worships the head and renowned hero of the military state, his older brother; Commander Darren. But, when a seemingly routine mission reveals that Darren's authoritarian regime is covering up a devastating nationwide famine, Wayne's world slowly shatters. Forced to choose between a starving nation and expected family loyalty, he will discover what it truly means to lead.

How We Will Collaborate:

I write in a sort of script/screenplay style. Meaning I can handle full story beats, character actions, and dialogue but you have total creative freedom over panel layouts and page breaks. So, we can blend my written storytelling with your visual expertise.

Project Goal:

I am only 17 and a student, so I don't have a corporate budget as of now; this is an unpaid partnership and I guess it could help with portfolio building. Looking for a peer!

However, the IMMEDIATE goal is to work together to create a 4-page sample scene (I have the chapter beats ready). We'll use this to build skills, maybe show it off a bit, then eventually pitch it to a publisher, or launch it online.
