Trying to produce my first movie

Hi everyone.
I’m an actor based in London and for the past 2 years I’ve been writing a psychological thriller called “INVISIBLE”
If you had a small budget and a month to get people to notice it, where would you start?
I opened a crowdfund account.. do you think is worth it?
Thank you

How would someone go about selling a feature length script?

I've written a script (about 85 pages) it is a dark comedy about a local band in their thirties trying to get started in a small city.

But, I'm just a guy who lives in Alabama who likes movies and making things. So I don't have any connection to the industry, or any kind of knowledge about it either.

I'm working with a few people to try and make it myself, but it is becoming more and more clear that the project is bigger than my pocket change budget.

Is there anyone that would be able to point me in the right direction?

A totally radical way to shoot a FEATURE FILM IN ONE DAY, at very low cost. This can suit frustrated writers, which includes myself. How I am planning to shoot my comedy feature film in one day, and how you can too. It can be done for only 2K to 4K. Full details here. I call it a "Studio Play."

You can do this too. Exactly how I plan to do this is at the link. (the link is to show you something, not to try to sell you anything)

First, about this script. I have tried very hard to get a script agent, or literary manager, or big studio, interested, with no luck. I have decided to take matters into my own hands.

What I will produce will be saleable on numerous platforms. It will look different than a "regular" movie of course, but it will still be very entertaining, and saleable. Right now I am looking for a "Key Person", a "Master Actor".

I am not trying to sell anything here. Some frustrated writers might want to try this, and it could change their lives.

I am offering the pay below, to the "Master Actor/Key person/producer/casting director" because I am living on my pension, and I'm 78, and it's the best I can do. Maybe you can do better.

For this person, I am presently offering $600 after our shoot is wrapped, and a demo reel worth $300, and $600 on deferral.

The lead actors will be offered $200, a $300 demo reel, and $200 on deferral. I am seeking actors who are now presently working for free on short films.

When it is finished, I will have the satisfaction of seeing one of my projects for sale online, earning a bit of money.

I will also be able to use it to promote to screen agents, managers, and big time producers, to make it into a "real" movie.

Have a look at this link, it could change your life. My Studio Play concept is here.

PS: I am offering rock bottom pay. You can see how just doubling the pay would make it easier to find the people. Please share this all over the net if you like.

PPS: I got carried away with my enthusiasm for this method, while I wrote the above. I forgot one detail, which I take for granted. That is, I own my own gear and do my own editing. If you don't, you can look for recent film school grads who want experience to help. Some will have their own cameras. YOU DO NOT NEED A HIGH END CAMERA. These days, you can use a camera similar to mine, which is a Sony AX 100. It is 4K. Believe me, it is all you need to get a movie on TV! I have done it lots of times! Another idea, find someone who shoots weddings and such, who wants to make something more interesting for a change. They might volunteer. Look for "videographers" in your town or city.

Looking for collaborators

Heya, I'm a 2D animator looking for help with my scripts. I've been making animated shorts lately (less than 30 seconds) and posting on YouTube and tiktok.

I've been getting into the writing aspect a lot more over the past few months, writing 2-3 minute scripts that I plan to spend months animating etc.

I want someone to look over my super short scripts (1-3 pages), and give me some feedback and whatever ideas they think would work best etc. Im trying to make the scripts super good and packed with good and funny ideas and stuff.

Obviously you'd be credited in the final animation as a writer for your help.

Here's some of my work:

Recent one I posted to reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/animation/comments/1ub0kzb/a_guy_goes_for_a_walk/

And here's my animation showreel: www.theoswebsite.com

Thank you :)

Has screenplay coverage become too dependent on conventional structure?

Experienced screenwriter here…over the last year I’ve started noticing screenplay coverage( both AI and human ) has become intensely focused on evaluating scripts through one dominant structural model. It made me wonder whether we’re unintentionally training writers toward the same kind of screenplay. Conventional wisdom says those principles exist because they’re what audiences respond to. But if the industry is constantly talking about the need for original voices and fresh storytelling, are we evaluating originality using tools that inherently reward convention? I’ve seen other writers raise similar concerns, especially those writing ensemble pieces, genre hybrids, or stories with unconventional narrative structures. For those of you who read professionally, produce, or write: do you think screenplay coverage has become too dependent on one storytelling paradigm? Or is that simply unavoidable in commercial production?

Looking for a No-Budget Contained Horror Shooting Script — Max. 3 Actors, One House Location

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a shooting script for a no-budget horror project to produce under very contained conditions.

The ideal script should be:

Horror, thriller, supernatural, psychological horror, mystery, or genre-adjacent

  • Set mainly or entirely in one house
  • Max. 3 actors
  • No expensive VFX, stunts, large crowds, vehicles, police action, or complicated exterior sequences
  • Strong atmosphere, tension, and visual storytelling preferred
  • Dialogue-driven is fine, but the script should still feel cinematic and filmable
  • Runtime around 75-90 min.

I’m especially interested in stories that are simple on the production side but strong in concept, mood, suspense, and emotional stakes. Think contained horror with a clear hook, limited characters, and a practical setup.

This would be a no-budget / micro-budget production, so I’m looking for writers who are open to collaboration, proper credit, and a realistic indie filmmaking setup. Rights, credit, and usage would of course be discussed clearly before anything moves forward.

You can see more about my work here:
clawcleaverflicks.com

Please send a short logline, page count, genre/tone, and any relevant script details. If it sounds like a good fit, I’d be happy to read the script.

Important clarification:
This is not a paid commission, and we are not asking anyone to write something from scratch for free. We are looking for writers who already have a suitable script that is currently unproduced and who are open to a transparent collaboration.

What we can offer:

  • A serious attempt to actually produce the film
  • Proper writing credit
  • A clear written agreement before anything moves forward
  • Festival submission plans if the final film turns out well
  • Honest communication about limitations, rights and expectations

What we cannot offer:

  • Upfront payment
  • A professional production budget
  • Promises of success, sales or exposure

This is only for writers who understand the trade-off and see value in getting an unproduced script made. If you are looking for a paid option or commission, I fully respect that, this just won’t be the right fit.

Thanks!

Looking for an Unproduced Short Script: Raw, Tragic Realism / Character-Driven Drama (Low Budget - High Impact)

Hi everyone,

I am an independent filmmaker preparing for my next short film project, and I’m looking for a powerful, unproduced short script to bring to life.

I have a very specific cinematic vision for this project, heavily inspired by cultural realism and intense, tragic human experiences. If you have a story that tears at the heartstrings or explores the aftermath of a tragic event, I want to read it.

Here are the specific parameters I am looking for:

Genre: Realistic Drama, Tragic/Poignant narratives, or human-centric emotional crises.

Characters: Very few main characters (1 to 3 maximum) with deep psychological layers.

Locations: Highly contained (4 or 5 locations max). Ideal for a minimalist, high-tension setup.

Language: You can submit your script in English (or any language). However, please note that the final film will be adapted and produced in Arabic.

Length: 5 to 15 pages.

What’s in it for you?

This film is being produced with festival submissions in mind. You will receive full credit as the Writer (Screenplay by...), IMDB credit, and we will maintain close communication throughout the adaptation process to respect your core story and emotional beats.

If you have a script that fits this vibe, please DM me with a short logline/synopsis or drop a comment below, and I’ll reach out with my email.

Looking forward to reading your stories!

Logline - Horror Feature looking for a collab - writer

Title: Logline

Logline: A bitter, out of work screenwriter discovers he can curse his loglines and sets about exacting revenge on Hollywood gatekeepers who wronged him, until the curse gets out of his control and starts to rewrite the loglines for itself.

Budget: Cheap af

Genre: Horror, Dark Fantasy - think Death Note for Hollywood

Writer compensation (dollar amount): $0 (collaboration project)

Early stage concept with some direction set, needs honing; already thinking transmedia opportunity into manga or graphic novels. If you're a comic artist, this could be an interesting chat.
