I made this documentary 17 years ago about subtitles ..

17 years ago, I made a documentary called The Invisible Subtitler about the unseen people who translate cinema for audiences across languages.

Back then, subtitles were often overlooked. Today, they’re everywhere — cinema, streaming, accessibility.

Yet the craft remains invisible. Funny how the words we read can shape everything we see even in 2026 with so much digital content around us.

Back then the cinema world was still full of Dvds and Cinema when I made the documentary.

Looking for aspiring writers with a 3-page short film idea — UK based filmmaker in London

Hey everyone,

I’m a filmmaker based in the UK, and I’m looking to connect with aspiring writers who have a short-film idea they really want to see made.

If you have a 3-page script, story treatment, or even a strong short-film concept, I’d love to hear it.

I’m particularly interested in ideas that are:

Original and character-driven

Filmable on a realistic indie budget.

Any genre — drama, comedy, thriller, romance, social issues, etc.

Something that can work as a compelling short film.

The idea is simple: find interesting new voices and collaborate on turning their ideas into an actual film.

I’m not looking for people with huge portfolios or industry connections.

If you’re an aspiring writer sitting on an idea and thinking “someone should make this” — this could be worth a conversation.

If you’re interested, feel free to DM me with your 3-page script/idea and a little about yourself.

Let’s see if we can turn a few pages into something that ends up on a screen

Hey filmmakers and everyone,

47M Creative Professional from London

Hi everyone,

I'm a 47-year-old independent filmmaker who has been living in London for over 20 years.

I'm hoping to connect with like-minded creative people who enjoy talking about films, filmmaking, storytelling, and the creative process.

The filmmaking landscape has changed dramatically over the years, and being an independent creative can sometimes feel like a solitary journey.

In an age of endless digital distractions, it can be surprisingly difficult to find genuine creative conversations.

Despite being one of the world's greatest cities,

London can feel lonely at times. It would be great to meet fellow creatives for a chat over coffee, exchange ideas, inspire each other, or simply enjoy good conversation.

If this resonates with you, feel free to get in touch.

Thanks for reading!
