🚀 CashFlowCast Performance Update

We just rolled out some major performance improvements to CashFlowCast!

The biggest difference should be noticeable when using longer forecast periods — especially 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year forecasts.

Forecasts now load and scroll much more efficiently while still calculating your entire selected forecast period, so your projected balances remain accurate.

We also made several improvements behind the scenes:

⚡ Faster loading for longer forecasts

📜 Smoother scrolling through months and years of upcoming bills & income

📅 Faster Calendar navigation

🔄 Faster switching between Forecast, Bills, Calendar, and back to Forecast

💳 Swipe actions continue working as additional forecast items load

⏱️ Removed unnecessary loading delays when changing forecast periods

Most importantly, none of the recurring bill/date calculation logic was changed — these updates are focused specifically on making CashFlowCast faster and smoother.

If you use the 1-year, 3-year, or 5-year Forecast, give it a try and let me know if you notice the difference!

CashFlowCast keeps getting faster. 🚀

📈 Portfolio Tracking is now live in CashFlowCast!

I just rolled out an update that adds a dedicated Portfolio account to CashFlowCast.

You can now add your stock positions and see them alongside your checking and savings accounts without mixing everything together.

The Portfolio view shows:

• Current portfolio value
• Amount invested
• Overall gain/loss
• Individual stock positions
• Shares owned
• Average purchase price
• Current value and performance

I also cleaned up the account system so investments stay inside the Portfolio account instead of appearing under Checking or Savings.

The idea is to make CashFlowCast more than just a bill tracker — you can see your everyday cash flow, savings, and investments from the same dashboard while still keeping each account separate.

This update is live now. 🚀

I’d love feedback on what you’d want to see added to the Portfolio section next.

🇫🇷 🇮🇹 CashFlowCast now supports French and Italian!

Quick CashFlowCast update — we just added French 🇫🇷 and Italian 🇮🇹 language support!

CashFlowCast is now available in:

🇺🇸 English

🇪🇸 Español

🇧🇷 Português (Brasil)

🇫🇷 Français

🇮🇹 Italiano

The new languages work throughout the app, including Forecasts, Bills & Income, Calendar, History, Reports, Daily Insights, Accounts, Goals, Debt & Loans, Net Worth, and more.

You can change your language anytime from Account → Language, and CashFlowCast will remember your selection.

This was a pretty big update behind the scenes because we wanted dynamically generated information—like bill frequencies, calendar months, reports, and insights—to appear directly in the selected language rather than briefly flashing English first.

If you speak French or Italian, I’d especially appreciate feedback if you spot any wording that could sound more natural. 🇫🇷🇮🇹

CashFlowCast — see your money clearly and plan what comes next.

🚀 Huge CashFlowCast Update — I’ve Been Working on This for About 18 Hours Straight

Hey everyone!

I’ve spent about **18 hours working on a pretty massive CashFlowCast update**, and I’m excited to finally get all of these improvements out.

A lot of this came from actually using CashFlowCast myself and noticing places where I thought, *“This could be easier,” “This should update automatically,”* or *“It would be really useful if CashFlowCast could show me this.”*

Here’s what’s new:

**🎯 Goals**

You can now create financial goals and track your progress directly inside CashFlowCast.

Your goals are integrated into the Forecast so you can see what you're working toward alongside your actual cash flow. You can add money toward goals, edit them, choose your primary goal, and quickly see your progress.

**💳 Debt & Loans**

You can now add and track your debts and loans, including things like:

* Mortgages * Auto loans * Credit cards * Student loans * Personal loans * Medical debt

CashFlowCast can track the current balance, APR, payment amount, payment frequency and due date.

Even better, your debt payments can appear directly in your **Forecast**, so paying a bill and tracking the corresponding debt aren't two completely separate things.

**📈 Net Worth**

This is probably one of my favorite additions.

CashFlowCast can now give you a live **Net Worth** view by bringing together the financial information you're already tracking.

It shows:

**Total Assets − Total Debt = Net Worth**

Your assets can include your **Checking accounts, Savings accounts and Investment Portfolio**, while your Debt & Loans are automatically included as liabilities.

So instead of just knowing what your checking account will look like next month, you can start seeing the bigger financial picture too.

**✨ Improved Insights**

I also redesigned and improved **Insights**.

CashFlowCast analyzes the bills, income and balances already in your forecast to help surface useful information about your cash flow and saving opportunities.

You can choose what you're currently working toward—such as an emergency fund, house, retirement or a general financial goal—and the insights adjust around that.

**🔮 What If**

The What If tools make it easier to experiment with your finances **without changing your real forecast**.

You can see how different decisions could affect your future cash flow before actually making them.

**📅 Calendar Improvements**

I made additional improvements to the Calendar layout and behavior, including cleaning up the scrolling so the important calendar information stays in place while the transaction list can scroll independently.

**📱 Lots of UI & Mobile Improvements**

There were also a ton of smaller improvements throughout the app—Forecast spacing, swipe actions, Goals cards, light/dark theme fixes, navigation behavior, mobile layouts, account displays and a bunch of little things that aren't exciting enough for their own announcement but make CashFlowCast feel much better to use.

This was a **huge update**, so if you run into anything that doesn't look or behave correctly, **please contact us and report the bug**.

There were a lot of moving pieces changed in this release, and reports from people actually using CashFlowCast are incredibly helpful.

As usual, **CashFlowCast is free to use.**

If you want email notifications and reminders, the subscription is only **$14.95/year**.

And if you enjoy CashFlowCast and want to support what I'm building, you can also subscribe even if you don't use the email notifications. Every subscription helps me continue developing, improving and keeping CashFlowCast running.

I really hope everyone finds these new features useful. ❤️

There is a lot more I want to build, but after 18 hours of this update... I think I'm finally calling it a night. 😂

Thanks to everyone who has tried CashFlowCast, sent feedback, reported issues or supported the project. It genuinely helps shape what I build next.

✨ New CashFlowCast Feature: Daily Insights Post:

I just added a new feature to CashFlowCast called Daily Insights.

Instead of only showing what your future balance will look like, CashFlowCast now uses your actual forecast to give you personalized suggestions based on your current cash flow.

Daily Insights can help you:

🏠 See whether your forecast has room to start saving toward a house

📈 Find opportunities to contribute toward retirement

🛟 Build your emergency fund without putting your upcoming bills at risk

💵 Identify recurring bills that may be worth reviewing

🔄 Set up a suggested weekly transfer directly from the insight

The recommendations automatically change as your income, bills, balances, and forecast change.

I also added different goals — Emergency, House, Retirement, and General — so you can see insights based on what you're currently trying to accomplish.

I’m continuing to improve this feature, especially the bill-review suggestions, so I’d love feedback from anyone using it.

What other types of financial insights would you want CashFlowCast to point out automatically?

📊 New CashFlowCast Update: Monthly Financial Reports

I just added a new Reports section to CashFlowCast!

You can now review a detailed monthly breakdown of your finances, including:

• Opening balance

• Total income

• Total spending

• Net cash flow

• Spending by category

• Income sources

• Individual account summaries

• Month-to-month comparisons

• Largest expenses

Reports can be filtered by account or viewed across all accounts. There’s also a PDF option so you can print or save a clean financial report for your records.

The new Reports screen works on both mobile and desktop, with fully designed dark and light modes.

I also moved Portfolio into the account selector alongside Checking and Savings. This keeps the top navigation cleaner while making it easy to switch between all your financial accounts and investments from one place.

CashFlowCast is independently built, ad-free, and designed to make upcoming bills and cash flow easier to understand.

I’d love to hear what you think of the new Reports feature and what you’d like to see added next!

New CashFlowCast Update: A Completely Redesigned Desktop Experience 💻

Another big CashFlowCast update is live!

I’ve been working on making the desktop version feel less like an enlarged mobile app and more like a real personal finance application. I took some inspiration from the clean, information-focused style of classic programs like Microsoft Money while keeping CashFlowCast simple and easy to use.

✨ What’s New

📊 Professional Forecast Dashboard

• New desktop dashboard layout
• Larger interactive cash-flow forecast graph
• Projected Balance card
• Upcoming Income, Bills, and Net overview
• Cleaner transaction register with dedicated columns for transaction, due date, amount, and projected balance
• Improved light and dark modes

📈 Redesigned Portfolio

• Dedicated Portfolio dashboard
• Larger portfolio performance chart
• Cleaner investment holdings and performance information
• Portfolio now feels like its own part of the application instead of an extension of Forecast

🧾 Income & Bills

• New professional register-style layout
• Cleaner Income, Investment, and Bills sections
• More compact rows so you can see more information at once
• Easier-to-read recurring payment details and controls

📅 Calendar

• Desktop Calendar is now split into two sections
• Monthly calendar on the left
• Selected-day transactions on the right
• Paid transactions remain visible with completed styling
• Calendar swipe actions continue to support Pay, Unpay, and Edit

🕘 History

• New transaction-register layout
• Improved month navigation
• Cleaner Spending, Search, and Clear controls
• Paid date and amount information is much easier to scan
• Swipe-to-Unpay still works

⚙️ Account & Settings

• Completely redesigned Account page
• Account/Membership and Preferences/Security are now organized into separate sections
• Cleaner subscription, referral, security, notification, and appearance settings

📌 Desktop Sticky Headers

The existing Sticky Headers preference now works on desktop too.

Turn it on and CashFlowCast keeps your important Forecast, Bills, and History information accessible while scrolling. Turn it off and everything scrolls normally.

📱 Mobile Hasn't Been Forgotten

The desktop redesign was built specifically for larger screens, so the mobile layout everyone is already familiar with remains intact.

Both Light and Dark Mode are supported throughout the new desktop interface.

This has been one of the biggest visual upgrades to CashFlowCast so far, and I’m really happy with how much more like a complete personal finance application it feels now.

As always, thank you to everyone in r/cashflowcast who keeps testing the app and sending suggestions. A lot of these improvements come directly from your feedback.

More to come! 🚀

🚀 New CashFlowCast Feature: Bulk Transaction Clearing

Another requested feature is now live in CashFlowCast! 🎉

✅ Bulk Pay / Clear Transactions

You can now clear multiple transactions from your Forecast at once.

How it works:

  • 👆 Long-press a transaction to enter multi-select mode
  • ✅ Tap additional transactions you want to select
  • 🔢 CashFlowCast shows how many transactions are selected
  • 💳 Tap Pay Selected to clear them all
  • Transactions are processed safely one at a time to keep account balances accurate
  • Works with both Checking and Savings accounts
  • History and Forecast update automatically when finished

🛠️ Additional Fix

We also fixed an issue with Savings transactions where unpaying multiple items could cause a transaction to temporarily reappear in History until the page was refreshed.

Thanks to everyone sending suggestions and feedback. A lot of these improvements are coming directly from user requests! 💙

Left YNAB because I didn't need a budget — I needed to see 2 days ahead

I used YNAB for almost two years. Categories, envelopes, the whole method — I actually stuck with it, which apparently puts me ahead of most people. And it still didn't stop me from overdrafting.

Took me way too long to realize the problem wasn't spending. It was timing. Three bills were hitting my account two days before my paycheck landed, every single month, and no budgeting category was going to fix that. I had the money — I just didn't have it yet when the bills wanted it.

YNAB is built around "give every dollar a job," which is great for figuring out where your money should go. It's not really built to answer "what's my balance going to be on the 14th." I found myself exporting stuff to a spreadsheet just to map bills against paydays, and that got old fast.

So I built a small tool that does exactly that — you put in your bills and income once, and it shows your projected balance for every day going forward, based on when things actually hit. Not a budget. Just a forecast, so I can see the dip coming instead of finding out from my bank.

It's called CashFlowCast if anyone wants to poke at it (cashflowcast.com) — but mostly I'm curious if the timing thing was just my problem or if other people switched off YNAB for a similar reason. Anyone else find the envelope method didn't actually solve the "will I have money on Thursday" question?
