My son turned 5 two months ago and is finishing up transitional kindergarten and will be in kinder starting in August. We’ve been so stressed over his pushing/hitting. He had a horrible teacher which has now gotten switched out to another teacher that knows how to calm the class. We went 5 weeks with his new teacher and she said she’s never seen my son hit or push. Well this past week, he hit the same kid twice.

How common is hitting? It’s happening mostly when he’s frustrated. The friend kept telling him to shut up so he hit him. And the time before that the friend was threatening to lay on him and so he hit him.

We’ve been role playing what to do instead of hitting. But we just feel stressed as he never ever hits anyone outside of school. Even goes to the YMCA for aftercare and he’s usually pretty good there too with no hitting.
