Which would you choose for a work truck between these 2?

A. 2017 gmc 2500 diesel with 280k miles (photos 1 and 2)
B. 2017 gmc 2500 gas with 200k miles (photos 3 and 4)

Insides cabs are both immaculate. What would you choose for longevity and why? And what would you offer for each one?

Did you pause Roth IRA contributions while saving for a home down payment?

Little context. I (28F) and husband (29M) just opened up our Roth IRAs at the end of last year. Maxed out last year and this year on top of pension and annuity my husband gets with work

We’ve decided our next goal is to buy a house even in this crazy housing market lol I predict we can save 150k (20% to avoid PMI) as well as beef up our emergency fund to 35k in 2.5-3 years with saving everything we can on base pay not including any overtime, tax returns, HYSA interest payments etc.

We obviously could reach this quicker if we paused Roth IRA contributions and directed everything to our house down payment.

I’m just wondering at our age is that smart? Is it smart to buy in 3 years vs continue to contribute to our Roth IRAs and invest while saving and have it take a little longer maybe 3.5 years?

Our living situation is a little bit different in the fact that we rent from my in laws and my father in law told my husband that when we decide we want to buy, he will rent the place that we are in now for a thousand dollars more a month and give the thousand dollars to us monthly to help with our mortgage payment.

Sell SCHG for VTI and VXUS?

I hold 75% VTI, 10% VXUS and 15% SCHG in my IRA account.
Currently have $2,450 in SCHG.
Should I sell it for VTI and VXUS make my portfolio a 80/20 split and a lot cleaner? Lmk

Can we have fun?!

Would Dave be opposed to buying a travel trailer and truck to go out for family getaways? Both would be paid for in cash, no payments ❌

-We have a full funded emergency fund of 6 months sitting in a HYSA making 4%
-Both husband and I have our Roths maxed out for the year (which is first priority come the 1st of the year)
-saving up for a house but that is 10+ years down the road
-currently putting all extra money into a brokerage account
-make ~$115k a year with OT/ $7,350 net income per month
-rent $2,000 a month to my in laws who’s property we live on
-monthly expenses including rent are just under $4,000 a month
-get 2 vacation checks per year once in July once in December of ~$4,000 give or take

We would love to buy a truck and travel trailer to make memories with our 3 children. I feel like we are doing great financially for being only 28 and 29 years old. Would Dave be opposed to this?
I’m thinking both travel trailer and truck would cost us ~$30,000 to buy

Insight on SoCal’s new wage contract?

Anyone have any insight or idea what’s gonna happen with the July 1, 2026 new wage renegotiation in Southern California?

I’m currently working in Northern California making their wages and it’s insane $$$$$ compared to down here

Switching locals???

Anyone have any experience on switching locals? Currently a journeyman in SoCal local 110, previously 213 before they switched it.

Getting sent up to NorCal for a job and being switched to the union up there as a foreman. Wage is insanely better compared to what I’m used to in SoCal.

Do I need to switch locals with each job I do? I don’t plan to stay out in NorCal for an extended period of time, hoping just a few weeks here and there to get done what I need to get done.

Anyone have experience doing this?
