Who, in your opinion, has the most well-developed background story/character development in aot? Like which one could you emphasize with, could understand their motivations, relate to, etc?

please remember to stay respectful and don’t send any unnecessary hate if you don’t agree with someone else’s views.

edit: i meant ‘empathize’ lol i can’t change it in the upper part after posting.

the bond both of them shared (outside of their connected relationship with hange, moblit, nanaba and miche) is one of the most trust-filled ones i’ve ever seen in aot. especially given their history and how levi and erwin became close to begin with.

from levi planning to murder the other man to him becoming his right-hand man who went through hell (in other ways as well, this is just one scenario!) just to >!eventually kill the beast titan!<. for both his sake and erwin’s so that levi could finally put his need to make the commander’s death meaningful to rest, and for Erwin to finally rest as he should after having irrevocably become the ‘devil’ the scouts unconsciously forced him to be (as levi/hange put it i believed).

their relationship is so special because we know levi doesn’t respect authority figures solely because they are that, for their title so to speak. in his eyes, erwin earned his devotion and respect even if he doesn’t stop from bantering with him in his very vulgar/morbid manner, which i love to see every time it happens

because i always imagined whenever the ackerman’s go into that rage mood, either when their survival is on the line or perhaps by strong emotions, as would be the case here, they’re way stronger than an average human bc of their special bloodline.

so either levi didn’t put in much strength OR erwin was just immensely strong in that moment lmao i can’t quite explain it myself so sorry for that.

i guess i’m just wondering if that’s a one and done thing or it happened more often.

they will always be the golden trio of aot to me. eren + mikasa + armin are a close second, though.

the bond all three of them shared (as well as individually between two of them each if that makes sense lmao) is so precious, even if levi loses both of them towards the end.

as in erwin realising he will never, for himself that is, find out the truth of what his father believed. and levi for having to let more soldiers die under his command (first of all erwin’s but him right after that i imagine!) when all he wants is for humanity to just survive & give those fallen soldiers’ lives meaning after death so they were never in vain.

such a badass, yet at the same time bittersweet, moment that’s forever etched into my brain.
