And now, She Wasn't A Guy has reached some of the bands it references AND an anime is on the way!! 🥺🎉

Seeing butchfemme yuri (or just yuri, period) grow this big & loved is incredibly precious. Some GL authors have already shared the struggles they run in, since yuri is less popular than other kinds of pairings... Fingers crossed, green yuri becoming an anime will bring more positive attention to this genre!!

Thanks for all the love last time from my setup. This time I want to show my everyday carry that includes my custom Green Yuri-themed home screen, plus the headphones that I forgot to show last time.

I'm very particular with my home screens and themed them too, and here's what they look like. I also carry the official tote bag, but I also mix it up with the custom one I had made which is all black. Sometimes I don't use it and use another sling bag altogether, but mostly nowadays I use the official one cuz it's made of canvas.

About my headphones. I love music and bands (probably why I got into green yuri lol). My friends are nuts on everything music and audio. One is in a band and the other tests audio stuff for fun. Both of them are guitarists too, so we always go for the best we can afford. So yeah, I picked a studio one and one that is for travelling but has good audio quality for the price (and making sure that I will never buy anything again cuz they ain't cheap). Also to theme it like everything else I put a green cover for the headband which works quite well considering that's the only thing I put.

Sorry I rambled a bit at the end there, but hopefully y'all like these too.

And yes, I do go out with all these, like seriously.

Let’s talk about the criticism surrounding Aya’s anime design.

Firstly I do want to make it clear that people are allowed to criticize it. If something feels off to you or you simply don’t like the design that is completely valid. Personally I’m fine with it but I understand why some people aren’t.

The biggest criticism I’ve seen is that Aya looks “ugly” because of her lack of makeup, difference in hair or overall appearance. But anime adaptations are almost never perfectly identical to the manga. Changes are made to character designs are often adjusted to fit animation and the current manga art style or for the overall direction of the production. This happens all the time.

I’d like to note something important. There has been little to no criticism toward Mitsuki’s design. The difference is that Mitsuki is still covered up we haven’t actually seen what her full appearance while Aya is. We don’t know what she looks like in the anime yet fully that’s why the criticism is lack luster. But to say it plainly Mitsuki won’t meet everyone’s expectation either once she is fully revealed.

In many cases people become upset with anime designs because they don’t match what they expected from the manga. So I’ll put it simply at the end of the day they won’t always look exactly like their manga counterparts.

I have seen many calling Aya ugly or hideous and some even attempting to fix her design towards their own standard or vision which is valid. I do think we should still remain respectful towards the anime itself and those who worked on it. I think for an anime design she isn’t perfect but I like people to be thoughtful towards when critiquing the manga and anime. The anime is an adaption towards the manga not a replica.

They can’t capture every detail and layout and even some songs/bands might not be included. The staff behind this anime worked incredibly hard and Sumiko herself approved and even likely helped with the adaptation. This project was made with love and care and the budget to use huge songs and for a huge studio to adapt this is outstanding. Beyond Aya’s design this anime is bringing music to life and giving queer media more visibility and love.

You don’t have to like every design choice but I hope people can be thoughtful with how they express their opinions. In the grand scheme of things Aya’s design is a pretty small issue and I’d like it to stay that way. I’m sure other characters and scenes etc. will also gain criticism potentially so let’s keep the criticism at something that doesn’t ruin the work and the anime and even the work for others and isn’t used as a means spread unnecessary hate.

At the end of the day people can think what they like but I also think we should remember this anime adaption won’t always reach all my or your expectations. This adaption also had a lot of hard work put into it so we should remain thoughtful regarding our comments and thoughts so people and things don’t escalate and cause bigger problems.

Hello everyone, so I'm usually quite shy and don't post. I usually lurk around discussions and forums of the green yuri manga. I finally gained the courage to post after the announcement of the anime. I can't believe it was announced by my favorite drummer of all time Dave Grohl.

I don't think I'm the biggest green yuri fan out there but hopefully you enjoy my setup + green yuri merch collection.
