A strip mining technique I've been using it, calling it Corkscrew.

A strip mining technique I've been using it, calling it Corkscrew.

At the start, mine forward three blocks, then turn and mine five blocks in that direction. After reaching the end, turn again and mine three blocks forward, then go to the end and mine another five blocks in the other direction.

While it won't be easy on pickaxe durability, this can uncover a LOT of blocks.

I think I know why Pagans and Heathens are hated more than Atheists and Agnostics by Christians.

It's easy to shake someones lack of faith in something, but shaking someones faith in any religion is a very difficult task. If a Christian REALLY wants to convert someone, an agnostic explicitly does not have a faith to shake. In the meantime, Heathens build their entire worldview and religion by studying things themselves.

Why don't the gods interfere in the world?

After being raised in a Christian environment and abandoning religion as a whole while i was still young, one thing that I hated about religion was the many questions left unanswered. The question of why suffering isn't prevented being a major one.

The issue of injustice in the world is why I couldn't be a follower of Yahweh. The justification I was given by my parents is "He made an agreement with Satan to let him rule the world to prove that people would still follow the one true god." and yet this same god interfered to kill thousands of Assyrian soldiers that were about to attack Ancient Israel. Why didn't he do this during the Holocaust? Members of his "Chosen Religion" were being killed alongside millions of other innocents, and I'm supposed to believe he did nothing?

And now, onto my questions about heathenry.

I began researching polytheism, paganism, and heathenry as a writer looking for a way to make my world more unique, but now its become something new and original to bounce my agnostic viewpoints off of and even make me question my worldview.

I understand the gods are not omnipresent or omnipotent, but they have power, no? Thor may not be able to decimate entire armies with a wave of his hand, but can he not strike a missile out of the sky before it hits a school and kills a bunch of kids? Then there are things like Epstein's island and the whole ring connected to him. That lasted many years, and would be no grand display of power to stop. Hell, a single spec ops team would have that island locked down in under an hour.

I've seen a few answers but I am left unsatisfied. Some say the gods just do not care enough to interfere. If this is true, why should I worship them? I didn't like the idea of worshipping Yahweh because, from my point of view, he was an uncaring asshole and a hypocrite. Gods that actively just do not care to interfere and save people sound no better. Another is that if evil cannot exist, there would be no good. This is fair, but then why does the evil in the world persist over the good so much?

The problem with the Origins mod. Downsides.

Origins is so cool in theory, adding races into Minecraft like The Elder Scrolls. The problem is they have downsides.

Khajit have advantages in things like unarmed combat and stealth. The Feline Origin has speed, night vision, and the like. The problem is they suck at everything else. You can't mine, you're weaker, and just absolutely pathetic in survival mode. You can only be a support class to your friends.

Same with Elytrians. Oh, I get free elytra? And I can wear a chestplate with it too? Sorry, actually, fuck you, the only armor you can wear is shit tier.

I want mods that add classes/races but Origins is only fun in a larger server where other people have different origins.

Do any pagan religions have any "sacred text" as their equivalent to the Christian Bible?

As a writer I want to get varied perspectives on religions, and I am creating a culture that is inspired by the real life Viking culture and the Redguards from The Elder Scrolls, a society that values strength and skill with weapons highly. I want to avoid making generic "Pantheon with a clear 'big boss god'" like most fictional religions do, and I figured to start I would want to read the actual religious texts of real pagan/polytheistic cultures.

Alternative subreddits to r/feedthebeast?

The moderators over there decided to take a pro AI stance, and when me and many other people spoke out about it we got our comments deleted for talking about alternative subreddits, and I was banned myself. I expect others were banned too.

I have made posts in other modded minecraft subreddits but most seem to be dead or just not receptive to people asking questions.

Are there any mods that rebalance durability and enchantments?

Here is the problem: Iron tools and such last a good long while, and when they're low I can simply craft a new one and hang on to the old one and just craft them together to repair them.

Unfortunately, this does not carry over to enchantments. Enchanted gear needs to be repaired in an anvil which slowly increases the enchanting and repairing cost. This actively discourages the player from using enchanted gear until they can get mending on all their stuff.

I need mods that either change how durability and enchanting costs work or remove it entirely WHILE REBALANCING IT. The last part is important, because simply removing durability as a mechanic is not a great balance in a survival game.

RPG modpacks that emphasize the ROLEPLAY aspect?

I found fantasia. i tried it. learned it has all the stupid metal smithing stuff TFC has. i dont like that, i want to be able to get into the real game without investing hours just to get basic gear.

things i liked about it was the inclusion of minecraft comes alive, which i think is essential to any ROLEPLAY in minecraft, and irons spells, which is by far the best magic mod i have ever seen.

things i do not like in modpacks are create mod or any other tech mod and stupidly long early games. i really just want a modpack thats block skyrim tbh.

Modpacks like Fantasia?

I tried getting into fantasia but when I found out it had the whole forging process for ores and other things that are in terrafirmacraft i dropped it. i found tfc kinda fun as a gimmick, but i would honestly rather die than try to actually progress through that pack.

i like that fantasia has the ROLE PLAY part of RPG down pretty well, and i really love that it has irons spells which is my favorite magic mod, but I do not want to deal with all that bullshit.

How do I stop getting emails for replies to posts/comments? [Desktop]

It just started out of nowhere like 3 or 4 days ago, every time someone replies to my post or comment I get an email about it. I really don't like this, because it is my rule that Reddit stays on my computer and does not follow me on my phone. I want this disabled.

AI generated mods should be banned, actually.

Going out of your way to include generative AI in the process of creating your mod shows me that it is a low effort project, violating rule 6. I can open up GIMP and make you an acceptable mod thumbnail in maybe five minutes, and no matter how shitty it looks it will be ten times more eye catching and charming than whatever garbage Chat GPT will pump out for you.

Oh, you don't want to go through the time of making a thumbnail? You just need a placeholder image? Take a screenshot of your mod. F2. Print Screen if you will. It is not hard.

As for code, this is certainly difficult to moderate, but it can simply be handled in the same way discord servers ban minors below 13. If they state that they used generative AI in the creation process, ban. If someone finds undeniable proof that they used generative AI, ban.

As for WHY generative AI should be banned? Generative AI takes a ridiculous amount of energy. Their data centers are burning up lakes of drinking water to stay cool, and noise pollution from those data centers is actively harming citizens where these facilities are built. This technology is harmful, and we need to take whatever actions we can to discourage its use. If that means banning people from posting AI generated content, so be it.

Besides thrifting, where can I get fem clothes cheap and easy?

I went to a thrift store today, and got some clothes, but I was scared the whole time because I am in a very unfriendly part of the country. I can say something like "oh just looking for clothes for my sister, our sizes are pretty similar so thats why I'm trying them on." but that doesn't just cure my paranoia.

Is there, perchance, an online thrift store of some kind? An idea I had was a sort of exchange website, where transfems and transmascs can trade old clothes of theirs that they no longer use. Like woke goodwill.

I am so damn tired of create mod. It is a good mod, I will not deny that, and it is very versatile and I know a LOT of people love it, but it is not for me.

So I find this cool modpack called Better Than Microsoft. I need to fight with it a little to get it running, but then I'm in the game. Then guess what I see, only now that I have the modpack running?

CREATE MOD.

I'm just sick of it. BTM is supposed to be a silver age styled modpack, a kind of alternate timeline where Notch kept developing and things continued going the direction they were pre 1.9. Why is this complex tech mod in this modpack? It makes no sense. I just want a nice fun modpack without needing to balance a bunch of performance and progression stuff myself.

I need a file path to give permissions using the command line, but honestly manually typing out the entire thing is a pain in the ass and frequently goes wrong. Is there a way to just select a folder and copy its file path?

To start, imagine my backyard is an upside down L. Take the letter L, rotate it 180 degrees, maybe trim the bottom a little, and that's the property I live on. It's late at night, and my cat is outside. Don't worry, she's safe. As I am typing this shes sleeping on my bed behind me, fortunately not taking up the entire thing like she usually does.

Now, before you rip into me about letting her out, she's supposed to be out sometimes during the day ONLY, and she never leaves the backyard. She's not a hunter, except the occasional lizard, so the local birds are safe. If anything tried fucking with her, like a bobcat or coyote, she could fuck it up good before running to hide under the shed, and that's if the dog wasn't outside too, and I always make sure hes with her when she's outside. This happened when I was making sure she was in for the night.

So, cat's outside, its late at night, and I need to get her in. I shake the treat bag, which should get her to come running, and nothing happens. I go back inside and get my shoes on, rushing out ready to throw hands with anything that tried to hurt her. I brought a BIG floodlight, by the way, illuminates the whole yard where it points. This is important.

I look around the yard, checking near the house first. Nothing. I do a sweep around the yards extremities, nothing. I am still shaking the treats and calling out for her, by the way.

At this point I'm scared and desperate. I go out to the front yard, thinking she may have found her way under the fence for some reason. I look around the front, she's nowhere. This is important, I was in the front for a solid 2 minutes. I go back to the far back, checking behind the workshop in what would be the top left of the upside down L. She's not there. I do another sweep of the back, and remember, my floodlight illuminates EVERYTHING. Nowhere.

Now, I'm getting desperate. I go back towards the house, towards the bottom of our upside down L, only to see here eyes reflecting my light, running towards me from the two trees on what would be the inner 90 degree bend of the L.

We went inside, gave her some treats, and everything is fine. This is the weird part. I probably spent five+ minutes up where she would have came from. I didn't see her at all, and her fatass would NEVER give up treats. I even made sure she wasn't in the front yard, past the gate, and she didn't come by. She was somewhere where she could not hear me. And no, she didn't climb the trees. Besides them being palms, which don't really have limbs for a heavy cat to climb on, she's just not a climber. I've tried seeing if she'll climb them before, she's not interested.

She has a history of disappearing, but that's always been in the house and she comes out once the treats are known to her because she's a greedy little beast. I have always felt cats have a inclination towards whatever supernatural forces exist in this world and this is only making it make more sense.

I'm going to sleep now, come morning I will respond to any questions.
