Does saying that someone has “great music taste” always just mean they have similar taste to you?

Had a discussion/debate with a friend over drinks last night and wanted to see what other music lovers had to say about it.

Do you think you would ever say someone has great music taste if their tastes are very different than yours? If so, what would you be basing that on? Or would you only say it if someone’s taste was similar to yours ? What qualifies as “great” music taste to you?

Thanks to anyone who shares their thoughts

Need something VERY simple to play on my phone while listening to music on the subway

One of my main hobbies is listening to new albums and music. I do this usually on my commute, one hour on a crowded subway (usually I can get a seat but not always).
I’m looking for something very simple to do on my phone while listening that will still let me concentrate on the music. I’ve tried not using my phone at all but I’d like to have something to do with my hands while I listen. Problem is, if it’s something too complicated I can’t focus so the simpler the better lol.

Mobile (iOS) only please, thanks for any recommendations.

Ideas for lazy shabushabu/hotpot broth— unconventional ideas welcome!

So my family makes what we call “lazy shabushabu” where we throw veggies (usually Bok Choi, cabbage, bean sprouts, enoki mushrooms, button mushrooms, etc) and thinly sliced beef into a pot, add some seasonings/sauces and water, boil and spoon over rice. So it’s not really shabushabu in the traditional way where you cook things in batches at the table but the ingredients and end result is the same.

Usually for the sauce I use soy sauce, dashima (not sure what that is in English, it’s like powdered beef stock?), and mirin. But I want to try other sauces and flavors. Anything from a Mexican flavored soup to a Thai sweet and sour. Or just basic variations on the traditional soup too. As long as it works with the veggies mentioned above it’s fair game.

It’s a great and easy way for my family and toddler to get their veggies so I’d like to get ideas to keep it interesting! Thanks 🙏

Sleep-maxxed too hard and now I'm sleeping way too long?

I used to be more of a night owl, and I would always have trouble falling asleep and would never want to wake up in the morning. I felt tired during the day but couldn't sleep at night. I was averaging about 6-7 hours a night which isn't bad but could be better. About 6 months ago I found this sub and a few other resources online that talked about improving sleep and "sleep hygiene" and decided I was gonna go all out.
- I started taking magnesium glycinate before bed
- Stopped using electronics one hour before bed and dimming all lights in the house
- Started sleeping with Loop earplugs
- Started doing some very light stretches before bed

And it worked...a little too well. The past 3 months I've averaged nine hours and twenty-two minutes of sleep a night, with several nights of getting well over 10 hours. I feel refreshed and not tired at all during the day (mostly), but when about 8:30pm rolls around I'm dying to crawl into bed. At first it was great, I loved getting so much sleep but now I kind of hate it? I want to have more time to work on my hobbies and sleeping nearly 10 hours a night is taking a lot of that away. I've also heard that the cons start to outweigh the pros once you get above nine hours a night, but I haven't done much research on this tbh.

Should I stop it with the sleep habits I've listed above and try to go back to the way I was? Should I try forcing myself to stay awake longer even if it's hard? Is there a way to have good sleep habits while maintaining a healthier amount of sleep in this case? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
