Absolutely Enjoyed The End of Oak Street

After the last Jurassic World films blue balled fans with the concept of dinosaurs causing chaos around the world and couldn’t even execute it right with Midminion and Rebirth, this film gave me nearly everything I wanted. Dinosaur horror and action that didn’t hold back and at least to me, a great story about a family trying to survive in a neighborhood suddenly transported to prehistoric times.

Although, to be honest if it hadn’t involved dinosaurs I wouldn’t have cared otherwise. After Zara’s death in Jurassic World, I was also introduced me to the next most shocking dinosaur death in media. When the father is slammed into the ground by the Allosaurus then eaten. Though, when the family travels back to the past he’s alive because convenient plot.

I just really enjoyed The End of Oak Street. It delivered something to me that Jurassic World has failed yet again, reigniting my love and interest for dinosaurs and in their appearances in movies.

However, I have a couple gripes. I had the impression that the neighborhood was taken to the Jurassic Period since the Allosaurus shows up in ads so what’s a Spinosaurus doing there? Which is a plus anyway since I love Spinosaurus.

The furry/feather designs are rather bizarre but I guess it helped stray away from the popular, scaly look popularized by Jurassic Park. There also appears to be a few fictional creatives created just for the movie such as the massive turtles with Godzilla spines and a huge, albino amphibian/snake.

While looking up reviews, I’ve found that some people are upset with how apparently weak the husband was portrayed which I don’t get. I was just hyped throughout the whole thing watching ancient critters terrorize the neighborhood in the background.

If you want to see a decent dinosaur flick after being let down by Rebirth, The End of Oak Street is your August prehistoric cinematic experience.

Somehow Dreamed About Crossed

I haven’t even touched any of the comics yet but somehow just knowing the series exists is enough to have nightmares apparently.

Dreamed about being in the middle of a forest with other random dudes. At some point, we all got in contact with the C-Virus and I suddenly had the sudden knowledge that my non-infected parents were present somewhere in my dream. Practically begged and slapped myself to wake up before I fully turned Crossed and went after them. Woke up feeling like my heart jumped out of my chest.😭

I slept really late last night. I guess this is one reason why it’s important to have a good sleep schedule.

Scariest Zombie/Infected In Media?

I can’t quite think of anything that could surpass the Crossed from Garth Ennis’ Crossed comics or the infected from The Sadness. Both involving not quite traditional “zombies” that are instead people driven to commit the most evil, violent, and heinous acts due to an unknown virus. Albeit while the infected from The Sadness are of somewhat sound mind but cannot control their actions, the Crossed take it the next level as they truly enjoy what they do.

Are there any other zombies/infected beings in media that are about as horrific or if not, much worse?

Appreciating Godzilla’s Animalistic Brutality

One of my most favorite aspects of Godzilla’s portrayal in the MonsterVerse is his animal-like behavior and mannerisms especially apparent in Godzilla VS Kong where he goes berserk.

In his second battle against Kong, he grabs Kong’s neck with his jaws. Godzilla also bites into Kong’s arm while violently shaking/jerking his body almost exactly like a real alligator would to dislocate Kong’s shoulder. Afterwards, he leaps onto Kong and mauls the poor ape with his claws like the bear from The Revenant wailing on Leonardo DiCaprio.

Seeing Godzilla acting this primal and savage was actually chilling as most of us are likely used to just seeing him atomic blast his problems away. We aren’t used to seeing Godzilla actually fighting and being as brutal like a real animal on the big screen. Something I think was greatly limited by being a guy in a rubber suit in past incarnations.

Even better when Godzilla becomes a quadruped for a brief moment, like the world’s angriest and largest Komodo dragon.

This tone somewhat lives on in Godzilla X Kong, when Godzilla executes Scylla for terrorizing humans in Rome. At least, in the sense he ruthlessly dispatches of Scylla sort of similar to lions killing hyenas on sight.

Give me more of Godzilla acting like a terrifying, gigantic, apex predator even without his Atomic Breath plz.

Which Should I Read?

I’ve been contemplating on finally graduating from larper who comes here for shits and giggles since I accidentally discovered the series from a YouTube video essay.

I want to at least get into the arcs which I’ve heard actually have a genuinely good story such as the original and “Wish You Were Here”. I imagine since the writing quality and world-building is inconsistent, I don’t really need to read everything.

I “think” I’ve desensitized myself enough to the infamous salt circle scene from the first run but anything like “Family Values” or “Psychopath” would CROSS what I believe I can handle.

“The Fatal Englishman” story sounds cool so I want to check that out someday too.

Infection Through Violation

At one point does someone become infected and turn after getting clapped? In Yellow Belly, Edmund’s dad has a train orally ran on him by Crossed clowns but it seems he doesn’t fully become a Crossed until they leave.

The virus is basically instantaneous through contact with fluids such as blood, saliva, and semen. Right? Was Edmund’s dad already a Crossed by the time the first clown blew his load? If so, why did the clowns keep going and why did Edmund’s Crossed dad only get up moments later?

Idk, I’m a larper. As far as I know maybe a female Crossed squirted on someone at some point to. If the first run had a mob of Crossed jack off on bullets together, I assume anything is possible in this series.

Crossed Guessing Game 2

This is a continuation of my previous post, where I, a Crossed larper will provide some vague, no context terms/scenes from the Crossed comics and let y’all fans guess what specific arc/issue it’s from. I’m doing this for fun and with only knowledge I gained from YouTube reviews.

- >!Sweet Home Alabama!<
- >!Two dudes in hazmat suits 69 and literally eat each other out.!<
- >!Florida Man VS “zombie” apocalypse!<
- >!Jotaro Kujo if he liked dolphins a little bit too much!<
- >!Unfortunate soldier gets spit-roasted in underground bunker!<

Has Someone Ever Bit A Crossed’s Dih Off?

My only exposure to the series is through YouTube reviews and as far as I currently know, there are two instances where the Crossed spit roast some poor bastard together (a soldier in Homo Tortor, and some guy on a boat at the beginning of Wish You Were Here).

To anyone who’s actually read the series, why has neither of the victims at least go down castrating their violator?

But, Ig it’s such a horrific scenario to begin with that’s there’s not really a point of trying fight back during the moment? 🙏🤷‍♂️

Crossed Guessing Game

After some careful consideration, I don’t have the guts to actually get into this comic book series myself but have learned a bit from video essays on YouTube. I thought it’d be “fun” for anyone here who’s actually read Crossed to guess exactly what issues or story arcs I’m describing. A sort of knowledge check for fans from someone who’s and will likely never get into it myself (idk, I think I’ll just check out Blackgas instead). The prize? Revealing you possess cursed baller knowledge.

Here I go:

- >!Group of infected massacre children, shove them into a wood chipper, and throw a literal bloodbath (pool party)!<

- >!Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal but you ordered your home video copy from The Dark Web!<

- >!Stephen King’s IT but if Pennywise also wanted to clap your cheeks!<

- >!Buff firefighter tries to build an advanced civilization of somewhat saner killers and with his homie!<

- >!Some guy “cleans”/licks a bulldog’s ass!<

The Crossed Are Terrifying

Never heard of this series at all until a video essay about “The Fatal Englishmen” suddenly popped up in my YouTube recommended months ago. As much as I could allow my morbid curiosity to willingly expose myself to, from what little I know the Crossed should be up there as the most horrifying monsters in any piece of media ever.

Combine your typical zombie tropes with the uncanny valley of the Titans from Attack On Titan and depravity of the Goblins from Goblin Slayer cranked up to 11 and then some. The Crossed come across as the very evil that God flooded the Earth for.

The concept of a virus that strips normal people of their sense of morality and drives them to commit any conceivable atrocity on the nearest, innocent person via murder, cannibalism, or sexual-violation is extremely dark and such, the absolute last apocalypse scenario I’ll ever want to end up in. Like a human-exclusive, rabies type virus that promotes the uncontrollable urge to commit every sin through any means.

And I thought Japan was the king of dark shit being the land that produced Berserk. Hell, The Crossed might even give both Guts and Griffith pause or fit right in that universe. These unholy bastards make your generic zombies in fiction look silly and stupid. Like scary ass, extremely savage cavemen who also want to and will fuck you (and literally any living thing) in all types of ways.

Nguma-monene Really Is Like A Spinosaurus Fr

Supposed sightings can’t make up their minds about what this thing is. Is it a snake? Lizard? Crocodile? A MOSASAUR? Or a SPINOSAURUS?

Just like the actual dinosaur itself for real, always changing into something new as science marches on. A creature so bizarre even its neodinosaur cryptid counterpart is a clusterfuck.
