Scared of getting hacked

I wish my brick and mortar bank had self directed investing like Wealthsimple. I’m just so scared of getting hacked that I can never put more than a few thousand dollars into my Wealthsimple account. Am I being paranoid? I just know I’m missing out on a lot of gains sticking with my brick and mortar bank’s investment options but the fear of getting hacks on Wealthsimple has kept me stuck like this

A year ago I received a large lump sum payment from a car accident.

I want to get a new reliable car that will last me 10-15 years. Daily driving and I want something reliable to take road trips(I live in BC).

I originally was going to buy a beater and just use my money to buy an apartment. But the more I’ve search for apartments for the past year, there really aren’t that many options/inventory available, or the ones in my price range are buildings with issues/high strata etc. Also the issue with older cars is unexpected repair costs/issues and lack of reliability(especially long term), and with the current car market even for a old car they’re going for 10-15k and I’ve seen some 20-25k. Extremely overpriced for what you’re getting(cars with stained seats are a no for me…).

I just don’t know what the best decision for me to make is, I don’t want to live a miserable life and I want reliability and longevity for my next car purchase. I will be taking multiple trips this summer and the last thing I want is a car with no AC or one that will overheat and leave me stranded in the middle of a highway hours from home.

Within this year I do also need to move out and my goal is to buy an apartment but my income isn’t the highest so I don’t qualify for much of a mortgage however I do have a large down payment.

I’ve had over a year to weigh out my choices and I’m still stuck in an uncertain mindset.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
