Moving from a small setup

Hey everyone! Long time admirer over here.

I have a small setup that is my first live system I bought from a friend with some small upgrades. Very humble, two EV ZX4's, a JBL MRX518s, a couple old Crown XLS amps and a PA2.

It's hard for me to imagine to path from where I am to a soudn system that kicks. It's just me right now, I have a hatchback not a truck, and I'm a decent wood worker but I can't fit a giant DIY sub with other things.

I know for example that I'm unhappy with that sub. I have some play money sitting around from some studio work but what, do I just dump it into a sub that's overpowered for my current setup and then wait to move up from there while learning how to build smaller speakeers first? Do I just hole up and deal with my current system until I have enough to get everything I need at once?

It feels overwhelming. I have so much respect for all of you making it happen.

Are these tomatoes ok?

My girlfriend and I are new to canning. We followed the blue book recipe for pickled grape tomatoes even though these are more plum tomato sized: ladle hot pickling liquid then process in a boiling water canner for 15 minutes.

I noticed the next morning a number of small air bubbles around the tomatoes. A couple days in the fridge later and it seems like they've mostly coalesced into a few large ones. The amount of air bubbles doesn't seem to be growing.

Is this evidence of bacteria? Should we just eat these now?

What do actual typical SPL levels in different sized venues (and different places in large venues)

Hi! I'm a studio guy who is working on a move into live sound and small scale setups. I'm more targeting nightclub-type environments and small outdoor side stages. I haven't yet bought around a db meter to check what different osund systems around me are running but I'm curious what are normal target db levels *in general* so I can get a feel. I see all sorts of talk about sensitivity and SPL of speakers and I understand enough of the physics and design of small systems but I'm not really sure how loud is loud enough. It often feels like I'm barking up the wrong tree researching systems that are alladvertising how loud they go when I feel mostly like I don't actually need that high of SPL levels as advertised.

As far as I can tell 110-120 is the loudest I ever need to go for a smaller room and that is pretty nasty loud if you're in front of the speaker without earplugs

Anywhere to learn about USL and the New York Cosmos?

Hey everyone! I've long watched international soccer but I'm feeling more energy for club soccer after the World Cup. I saw a lot of discussion that the best way to support the USMNT directly is to support local teams. Well the next town over from me has the New York Cosmos, who are in a league called the USL? I haven't heard of this league before or this team. Do we know anything about either of them? Is the USL a developmental league for MLS?

Can't log in to reddit app on standard Pixel 10 emulator

Hi! I'm working on a scrolling addiction app (sort of like Opal) and have been trying unsuccessfully for days to log in to the reddit app on my emulator. I use the correct password, I've tried the email links, etc. I either get "wrong password or username" when they are both correct or just "We had some trouble getting to Reddit".

Is this a known issue? I'd assume Reddit's android devs are able to do this during their normal testing and QA process.

Disinfecting vocal mics?

I just ran a hip hop cypher last week, so it was hours of rappers eating my mic (a Soyuz v1). I've heard a lot of talk about keeping live vocal mics clean, you all have any tips?

Good videos or resources for Syntakt?

Hi! I just bought a secondhand Syntakt. It's my first elektron box, can anyone point me to good resources for getting started? Who are the wizards around here?
