Seeking Male Vocalist and Musicians (18–27) for Rock Band - Ready to Record & Gig

Hey all - we’re SuperExcellent, a guitar-driven rock band getting ready to move from writing mode into recording, gigging, and building a serious local -> national following.

We’re looking for a lead vocalist and proficient, motivated, chill musicians who want to be part of something that’s already moving forward. Our sound is melodic, energetic rock with pop and punk edges. If references help, think Green Day, The Who, The Replacements, The Clash - big hooks, strong songs, and room for personality.

We already have 6 demos fully recorded, and several more in the works. We’re happy to share them right away with anyone who’s genuinely interested and feels like a fit. Additionally, we love to create, so songwriting interest is an added bonus!

If you’ve been looking for a band that’s past the “someday” stage and ready to actually "do the thing," message me with a little about yourself, your influences, and any recordings if you’ve got them.

Cheers!

My GMAT Focus Experience: From 675 to 735

About a year ago, I took an official GMAT Focus exam relatively cold and scored a 675 (Q83, V86, D82). Recently, I decided to give the test another shot, so I studied consistently for two months, taking an official practice exam each weekend during the second month of preparation.

My practice test scores, in order, were:

  • 755
  • 775
  • 705
  • 735
  • 715

After my third practice test, I realized two important things:

  1. Fluctuations in my Data Insights score accounted for the vast majority of the variation in my overall score.
  2. I was spending far too much time on Multi-Source Reasoning (MSR) questions for mediocre results. Even worse, my struggles with MSR were creating time pressure that negatively impacted my performance on the remainder of the DI section.

To improve my DI performance, I essentially had two options:

  • Invest a significant amount of time mastering MSR to improve both speed and accuracy; or
  • Accept that MSR was a weakness and strategically bail on it, preserving time for the rest of the section.

I chose the second approach.

For practice tests #4 and #5, I skipped the entire MSR set and focused my efforts on the remaining DI questions. While this strategy guaranteed a few missed questions, it eliminated the cascading time-management problems that MSR had been causing.

This past Thursday, I sat for my second official GMAT Focus exam. The test felt solid overall, although I definitely made a few careless mistakes. I also strategically guessed on two Quant questions and one additional DI question.

Despite that, I finished with a 735 (Q86, V88, D85).

Looking back, the biggest lesson from my preparation was that improvement doesn't always come from fixing every weakness. Sometimes the better strategy is identifying what is hurting your performance the most and managing it in a way that maximizes your score elsewhere. For me, that meant recognizing that MSR was consuming disproportionate time and energy for very little return. Once I stopped fighting that battle, my overall performance became much more consistent.
