I have been hired to work in FiDi starting in September 21st and am looking for studio apartments in midtown or downtown area in the $3k/month range.

My current top choice is FiDi it’s self but i understand $3k isn’t realistic

What should I be aware of when looking at apartments? I will be virtual and in person tours

Things I care the most about in an apartment are:
• Good heating/cooling
• No pest issues, good maintenance
• A NICE BATHROOM!!!!
• Hardwood Floors!!!

Any help would be good. Where do i even start? Also what the hell

After a year of applying to countless jobs in my dream city (NYC) I finally got an interview then an offer and after the offer I was still so anxious about getting it pulled for countless reasons but finally today I got the confirmation start date. I’m extremely excited and thankful for all of you that told me not to sweat it. I say keep applying and never give up because I understand how it feels, especially when you are so checked out of the old place you are at. I’ve sent well over 600 applications and prob only got 10 interviews. A majority only because of connections. Unfortunately connections are the most important thing in this field. Nevertheless don’t give up and do it. If I cab you can.

So I (M26) cleared background and signed offer for company A. Only thing I’m waiting on is a start date. Manager proposed a start date I countered saying I will be out the country and will be good to start “AFTER 09/14” she most likely misread it. She responded by saying “okay 9/14 start date it is” had to clarify to her that in my email I said okay to start AFTER 09/14 and told her I can start 09/21. She hasn’t responded jn a day. However now my problem is I have another offer from company B in hand that requires in answer today. I prefer the job for company A as I already signed and did all background checks for but I don’t want to decline this other offer from Company B because what if the first offer from company A is rescinded because of the start date. I want to make sure we both agree on start date. What should I do? Call HR and let them know I have another offer from company B that I need an answer by today and if 09/21 would be okay so that I can decline this other offer?

I posted a thread last week explaining that my soon to be boss emailed me asking for a start date of either of two options (08/31 or 09/07). This was an issue because I told HR that I’d be out of the country on a pre planned trip from 09/04 - 09/14 so I told her this and said anything AFTER 09/14 would be no issue. I was nervous of her reply but let it be. This morning I got a response saying “alright thank you 09/14 start date it is”. I clearly said AFTER 09/14 and I think she misread that. I emailed her back saying that I’d still be traveling that day so I would be able to start 09/21. I’m just really nervous she’s gonna get fed up. I really not brining this out the blue. I told this to HR before my offer. I don’t know what to do I’m an anxious mess. I tried to be nice as possible in my response and said that I’m sorry if there was confusion but I can’t start 09/14. I even tried to look at flight changes so I can come back earlier but it’s like $1k difference. Idk what to do, is this something she may pull an offer for?

Hello, so today I was told by my future boss that HR told her I officially passed my background check and that they want to set me up with a start date. She emailed me asked me for August 31st or the September 7th. However , I told HR before the offer letter that I had a pre planned trip to London from Sep 4th to the 14th. They told me that it wouldn’t be a problem and I said that to her in an email. I mean technically I could start the 31st but then I’d work for that week and immediately go on vacation idk how reasonable that is or effective. But anyway yeah I told her anytime after this would be great. So technically the next Monday would be September 21st but that’s essentially 5 weeks out. She hasn’t responded, I’m getting worried that they might take away the offer because of it. I should’ve said that if that doesn’t work then idc about cancelling my trip and losing money because my career comes first. Idk what to do, am I overthinking ? How common is 5 weeks out start date ? Is that too much time?

Hi everyone , so I think I made a mistake. Last week I signed an offer letter for company A (TOP CHOICE) And began the onboarding process. At the same time this week I just got a call from the HR person for company B saying that they are offering me a job. I thought I was doing good by telling them I have another offer in hand and want to weigh my options. After I said that she said they can’t send a written offer before verbal so to call them back next week. Should I have not said anything? I just wanted to be honest and tell them I may need sometime because I’m weighing offers. The only reason im even waiting is because I’m just waiting for my background check to clear. My worry is that something will happen before getting a start date at Company A and that’s why I had company B as an option. Idk what to do now.

Hi all, currently really worried. Back in 2022 I got a DUI but it was successful expunged thru a diversion program in CT. I currently got an offer from Morgan Stanley. Can they see this.? Will my offer get rescinded? I’m really worried. I never had a conviction.

I 26M recently got verbal offer for a dream job that I’ve been dying to get in my dream city NYC. Prior to this move I lived in CT and was already making the move to NYC and was staying with a friend in his apartment. So I used his address on my candidate profile. Fast forward to today when I get the verbal offer, turns out the landlord doesn’t wanna renew the lease because he is having a family friend move in. So we have the move out at the end of the month. I obviously plan to look elsewhere in the city, looking as we speak but obviously as soon as I heard this I went to change my address on my profile back to CT because obviously won’t be staying in the NYC address anymore so I don’t want to be associated in it. I’m just afraid this is going to look suspicious to HR and they will pull the offer. But I am 100% moving into NYC before my start date. Just don’t have exact address yet. What should I do?

Hi all (25M). 2 days ago i got into a car accident after drinking and driving. My BAC at the hospital showed .25. Luckily the other driver was not injured and didn’t go to the hospital. I did however but walked away with minimal injuries. I totaled my car , and the other car airbags deployed so most likely totaled. I’m ashamed, disappointed and embarrassed. Since my last DUI 2.5 years ago. I had turned my life around. I was able to control my liquor. I never ever drink and drove. I got a masters degree. Landed a job with a big firm. Lost weight. Fixed relationships. This time I do not know what happened that night. My plan was to sleep over my friends house which is why I decided to drink. But then I guess I just left? No idea. This is not a mistake bc mistakes happen once. This is me being stupid. Dumb. Selfish. I gotta be a man and face the consequences of my actions. That being said. I want to learn more about what will most likely happen. My fist DUI was essential dismissed due to a program here in CT. So how would this one be handled? Any insights or people that been thru similar would be great. I’m freaking out about losing my career and going to jail. I will not be drinking ever again.

Hello I (25M) got into a really bad car accident last night after drinking and driving. I’m very very lucky to be alive and even luckier to not have killed anyone. I crushed into a truck and total losses both cars. The driver of the truck was not hurt at all. Didn’t even go to the hospital. however I got pretty hurt went to the hospital and had a bunch of tests ran. My BAC level was at a .274. Unfortunately this is my second DUI my first one was 3 years ago. Ever since that first DUI. I literally have Ubered everywhere if I’m going to drink. Have not drank and drove at ALL not even a single time since my first one. I don’t even drink like that anymore. Idk what was happening last night had what I thought was 4 drinks. I was supposed to stay the night at my friends but he fell asleep so I guess I just left? Idk. I’m just very nervous now about what’s going to happen legally. It’s a 2nd one in CT. Any thoughts? I feel so guilty.
