Aviation Townhomes/North Redondo?

Hello,

I am finally centering in on apartments and think I am honing in on Aviation Townhomes. I am moving from across the country so site unseen, though did a virtual tour.

Anyone have any experiences with these apartments and area? My only concern is the open parking near a busy street and vehicle/cat theft and curious how much of a problem that is for residents.

My other alternatives are other apartments with garage parking, but small buildings with no pool or shared communal areas to help with socializing/meeting friends versus South Redondo which seems like a nicer area, excellent beach access, but higher prices and my commute (which is mixed locations to South LA, Carson, Gardenia, and North East LA) likely would be much worse dealing with beach traffic.

Thank you very much.

2003 Ford Ranger, Moving to LA- Antitheft and cat protection advice?

Hello, I have a 2003 3.0L V6 Ford Ranger and I’m preparing to move to LA. I’m trying to get ahead of theft prevention before I get there. My current plan is to install a kill switch and use either a steering wheel lock or a steering wheel/brake lock as a visible deterrent.

What I’m less sure about is catalytic converter protection. From what I can tell, this truck has multiple cats (three?). Have any Ranger owners installed cat guards for all of them, found a fitted shield, or had a plate/skid plate fabricated and welded on for protection? Are the cats on these trucks even commonly targeted in LA, especially given the age?

One additional concern: when I had the truck in San Francisco, someone drilled into the gas tank and tried to steal fuel (but left the cats). I’d love to prevent that from happening again too, though I’m not sure skid plates would actually help with that situation.

Any advice — especially from other Ranger owners in LA — would be greatly appreciated. She’s a low-mileage truck (65k miles) that I’ve had for years and moved all over the country with, and I’d really like to keep her safe and in one piece in LA. Home parking is most likely going to be an onsite covered, but not gated, apartment parking space in North Redondo.

Hello, I am a single 34F moving from the East Coast to Los Angeles for a job in which I will split my time working between locations in Gardena Ave/Carson (primary location) and Van Ness/South Los Angeles (secondary location) from 7am-2/4pm. Have a car but fan of public transport too. Gross income will range between $150,000-$156,000 with strong savings/emergency fund, no loans or debt.

I am looking for a larger 1 bedroom or smaller 2 bedroom, up to ~$3000/month but prefer around $2800 or less. Some flexibility here.

I am looking for an area close to the beach (or alternatively, historical/interesting urban areas), good social scene for professionals in their 30s over family friendly area (not adverse to family friendly, just don't have children and want a social scene that matches), with balanced commute, gated or garage parking. A small bungalow or town home with tiny yard would be a dream, but a porch acceptable. I will have cats and likely get a dog, dog friendly areas a plus. Would like to be able to walk around alone without too much harassment, ability to walk to grocery store, gyms, etc. also great.

Not a fan of the suburban off highway big box store-type neighborhoods.

I have lived in SF and Davis in CA; NYC, Austin, as well as many smaller college towns/rural areas in MD, CO, and TX. So I am used to city life, as well as slower areas, and being street/property smart regarding crimes. However, living in SF and Davis I was baptized in the multiple catalytic converter thefts (prius pre catguard), drilled gas tanks/gas theft, and vehicle theft that I am not looking forward to returning to. I would like an area that property/vehicle crime is within reasonable LA levels. I own a 2003 Ford Ranger, unsure if that is a less or more targeted vehicle.

This may be all high dreaming, but if there is any area that hits a lot of these marks would love to hear it! Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Hello wondering how safe, walkable, and generally advisable E. Florida street is for renting as a single woman in her mid thirties (access to social scenes, beach, harassment, property vs. violent crime etc.), specifically between Cherry and Walnut? Thanks!
