Just bought 1st .22 rifle, need help picking optic.
Just bought this CZ the other day without really knowing much about .22 rifle platforms. I just wanted something that was higher quality than your average rifle, but the purpose of this rifle is just for target shooting and a little varmit control. I have never done long range comp, but I do want to have the ability take longer shots. As I start digging into the reddit rabbit hole, I’m pretty surprised to see the amount of higher magnification optics. I had no idea people were putting 5-25x optics on .22’s.
So here’s my question, if I am not doing competition shooting will I be perfectly happy with a 4-16x or a 3-18x? Or am I still gonna want more magnification? My thought is the extra weight and price savings are probably more important to me. A couple scopes I am considering currently after doing some initial research: arken ELP 4-16x $300 or a bushnell pro match ED demo for $450. Am I on the right track, any other good options under $500?
