## Mouth Manglers (Gene's Mouth Manglers Recipe)

### Ingredients:

- **3 plain tortilla chips** (per bag of 3, as in the show)

- **1-2 tbsp fresh unripe persimmon juice** (from Jean P. Simmons' persimmon)

- **1 tbsp lemon juice**

- **1 tsp hot sauce** (or more to taste, depending on how extreme you want it)

- **½ tsp sugar** (or a light dusting)

- **Salt** (to taste)

### Instructions:

1. **Make the persimmon juice**: Use fresh unripe persimmon, juice it (or blend and strain)

2. **Mix the seasoning**: Combine persimmon juice, lemon juice, hot sauce, and sugar in a small bowl

3. **Brush or dip**: Lightly brush the mixture onto tortilla chips, or dip chips briefly

4. **Season**: Add salt to taste

5. **Let it dry**: Allow chips to air dry slightly so they're crispy and crunchy

6. **Serve**: Bag 3 chips per serving (like in the episode)

### Notes:

- **Heat level**: Adjust hot sauce to your preference (the show's version was "extreme heat")

- **Sour level**: The unripe persimmon and lemon create that "extreme sour" flavor

- **Sweet**: Just a touch of sugar for that "sweet/sugary" element

- The result should be **extreme heat, extreme sour, and a little gross**—but addictive!
