My DIY homelab

It’s finally done! It took a long time setting this up, with looking for affordable (and sometimes not affordable) hardware and just wrapping my head around networking in general. I have two switches, an opensense device, home assistant, proxmox server, PBS, truenas, APC with battery.

Now the digital tinkering begins.

Will the AI never peace out unless they have 100% warscore?

Portugal invaded Aragon and their war goal is Melilla. I can take them but I'd prefer to keep Castile as an ally for a few more wars against France. It's a PU war btw.

Keep old iphone 12 as the phone and buy pixel 10 also?

I’ve been meaning to get a new phone now since I can get one with the phone plan renewal but I like the size of my iPhone 12, especially if I think of it as just a phone (I’ll have to get a new battery.)

And I want to try graphene but I’m a little concerned some essential apps won’t work in the future and that the os might be more hassle than I’m willing to go through…

So my thinking is, since phones these days are basically computers, I’ll get a pixel 10 for modern apps and tinkering with my homelab and the 12 as my communication device.

Is that feasible you think?

It’s time for a new phone, android or apple.

I’ve used iPhone for many years and I don’t really have anything to complain about it, but I’ve gone down the homelabing rabbit hole recently and I’m curious about graphene on a pixel 10. I’m not completely sold though because as a Swede, bankid and swish has to work which there’s always a chance they will not in the future. My other concern with google is the recent consolidation of the apps and that android isn’t as free as it used to and it will get worse which defeats the purpose of switching to android.

I also hear the battery on the new iPhone 18 pro is going to be significant and match the pixel phone.

I seek advice on networking for my new servers.

Can I get some advice on in how to approach setting up my servers?

I had one server before, bare bones, and I upgraded to new hardware and to proxmox. I've installed everything but I'm sort of procrastinating because I want to get pfsense up and running and I'm not experienced on it.

I have a cable running through my apartment that goes to a managed switched (in the living room) to another switch (in the closet) to my pfsense device.

I want to set up a wlan so I don't have to do two cables across my space, though my pfsense device have two ethernet ports. I'm assuming it's best to get this sorted before I start up my servers again.

I have a main proxmox server and a pbs and another extra proxmox server as well.

Image viewer problems

I'm trying to look through my pictures in gnomein the order that I downloaded them but they all get scrambled when I scroll through the image viewer even though I try 'last modified' and 'first modified.' the pictures are not organized by name.

Also, when I double click on the first and last picture in the grid view when I use the arrow key the last image it stops at when I hold all the way to the right or all the way to the left doesn't match what I see in the grid view, if that makes sense? Almost like the preview doesn't show all the pictures and some are hidden or something?

Also also, the preview images or just blank orange. I've tried fixing it without any luck.

I use nvidia if that makes any difference.

Edit: gthumb fixed all my issues.

Budget homelab

Got any advice to make this look good without adding any more space? I’ll be adding a pfsense micro pc and a wifi router too.

I guess the obvious would be to get extension cords and put the apc on the floor.
