I don't like the Order of Giants DLC for The Great Circle

I played it when it released after having finished the main game and I found it to be a bit of a slog with so much of in being set in the sewers. It somehow felt too long and too short at the same time. It only felt like it was picking up right at the end.

I'm replaying the game on NG+ this time around and the DLC really dragged. It actually hurts the pacing of the game I feel. That was already a concern of mine before release when I found out it would be set during the events of the game.

It also feels like it was designed to be played after you get the lighter, despite being set before, with how dark the sewers are and how few torches there seem to be.

The puzzles were good, better than the main game probably, but the overall package kind of hurts the experience I feel. If I ever do another playthrough after this one, I'll keep the DLC uninstalled, thankfully we have the option.

Especially for the price I was hoping for more.

I like Origins less every time I play it.

I played Origins at launch with no real expectations, as by that point my AC fatigue was at it's peak. I only bought it in the first place because I happened to have been looking for a new game at the time of its release.

I enjoyed it enough. The world is the standout, and it's the main reason I find myself coming back to the game at all, but it's not enough to keep me interested for long.

I'm not sure exactly what it is. The gameplay is fine, not peak AC but very playable.

It can't simply be that it started the pseudo-RPG era of AC, because I love Shadows.

The story is no doubt part of it. It's my least favourite in the entire series, at least of the games I've finished, and I think Bayek is an overrated protagonist, sorry.

But there's other AC games where I don't like the story, but I still enjoy playing them, like Syndicate.

There's just a feeling of disdain I get when I play Origins for extended periods. Unity and AC3 give me similar feelings, but in their cases I know the exact reasons.

Not really sure what I'm trying to get at, just putting this out there. If you love Origins that's great.

What exactly were people expecting?

Regarding Sony discontinuing discs, I can understand the uproar if someone genuinely didn't see it coming, but why wouldn't you see it coming? Is this not the direction media distribution has taken for decades now? Were you not preparing yourself?

Just to be clear, it's fine to not be a fan of this decision, I'm not either, but it's the way it is. If it truly is the anti-consumer injustice it's being made out to be, then it won't work out for them in the long run. If it does work out for them in the long run, then it wasn't a big deal to begin with. Let nature take its course, no melodrama needed.

Things I'd like to be added to Resynced

Where possible of course -

  1. More options for remapping controls, like being able to set any action as either a single press, double press or hold. Currently sheathing weapon can only be set to a hold which isn't ideal. I'd much rather the hood toggle be the button hold.

  2. If my hood is up when I go into a cutscene, I'd like it to stay up in the cutscene, and vice versa. Same thing with sitting on benches.

  3. Subtitle option for foreign only.

  4. Being able to pass time in more places like rooftops and docks, maybe even your ship.

  5. Replaying missions

Problems with the skip time feature in Resynced

Can't skip time on rooftops, can't skip time on docks, can't skip time on my own ship. Seems unnecessarily limiting. Origins allowed you to do so anywhere.

Loving the game so far but I have a few nitpicks I want to put out there.
