I want to learn how to code but no idea where to start

So here's the thing right, I have absolutely no idea how coding works, I didn't have any coding classes in my high school and the only tech literacy I have is building my own computer and using Linux as a daily driver.

So ultimately I wanna make games, mods, that sorta thing. The thing is is that I have no idea where to start. Should I learn basic fundamentals of how coding and scripting work? Should I learn a language and work from there? Should I give up because some little shit with Claude can redo the exact thing I'm trying to do and steal all the credit? I just don't know where to start is all.

This is probably the wrong subreddit but I thought I'd just ask. Thank you for your time.

Why can I never get into Fantasy or Medieval setting games?

I'm writing this because I'm baffled by my own brain sometimes. Like I love open world games and RPGs especially, but for some reason I just can't get into games set in a fantasy or medieval type setting.

The only game I've ever liked in this genre is Skyrim and even then I get tired with that game (tbf I think everyone has, thanks Todd). I've tried others as well such as The Witcher 1, 2 and even 3 which is considered the greatest of all time and just can't get into it at all. I've tried Kingdom Come deliverance and just got bored with it. I've tried Dragon Age and immediately just went nope. I've even tried Dark Souls and I just get nothing out of it, besides from frustration of course.

Yet for some reason in nearly any other genre I love to death. Is there something wrong with me or am I approaching these games wrong?

Is there any way to pause MGS2 and 3 cutscenes on PC?

So I bought the Konami collection thing because this is a series I always wanted to go through but never got the chance to. Finished MGS1 and absolutely loved it, easily one of the best PS1 games I ever play. Got up to 2 and 3 and loving both, but during my playthrough of 2 I found it odd that there was no ability to pause the cutscenes, nor the calls that come in.

Now for most this wouldn't be too bad, but I have a child and I occasionally need to jump off and attend to important issues, so having the ability to pause would be fantastic.

Is there any way to do that? Be greatly appreciated.

Want to upgrade to a 5700x3D or 5800x3D but they're so expensive

So I've been meaning to upgrade my PC for a while now from a 5600x to something a bit beefier and I noticed these 2 ones here and thought alright that seems like the best way to go.

But then I look online and they're selling for 500 bucks in my currency (AUD) and idk if that's overpriced or not. Considering my other CPUs were much cheaper I figured it'd have to be but idk.

Should I just say fuck it and get it? Or should I wait for ram to go down and upgrade to AM5?
