Recently diagnosed with a moderate allergy to sesame, do food allergies tend to get better or worse with time or exposure?

Recently, I have been tested and diagnosed with a moderate sesame allergy after consuming a dish with sesame seeds in them. My reaction thankfully wasn’t life threatening, but it definitely scared me. It started with numbness that appeared from the back of my throat and made its way to the roof of my mouth and tongue. It lasted for about an hour after I stopped eating the dish. This is the first time I’ve ever had a reaction like this before to something I ate.

When I spoke with my allergist, they basically told me to avoid sesame at all costs and try to get myself an EpiPen if I could get it at an affordable price.

With that being said, do moderate food allergies tend to get better or worse overtime or with exposure? I’m not planning on eating dishes with sesame anytime soon, but I was curious to know if you could outgrow them like some kids do with certain food allergies.

Please keep in mind I’m very new to food allergies so I apologize if the answers I’m seeking to this question are very obvious.

Is there any way to get a CT scan and diagnosis without contrast?

My doctor suspects I could have Crohn’s disease after I received my colonoscopy results stating my terminal ileum is chronically inflamed. With that being said, the next test ordered for me is a CT scan with Oral contrast. I have no issue with going through the claustrophobic donut hole since I’ve had several MRI’s done in the past before, but I don’t think I can do the contrast orally or through iv. I have really bad emetophobia and pharmacophobia which makes it virtually impossible for me to try new medications, in addition to the trouble I have drinking (or eating) large volume substances without feeling sick. Which leads me to my question, is there any way for them to see Crohn’s on a CT scan without contrast??? I’d be willing to do that if possible. But it looks like I have no choice but to suck it up and do it with the contrast or not at all (which I’m really leaning towards).

First time getting a CT scan done with contrast.

I’ve been having chronic gastrointestinal issues since I was a kid and recently underwent a colonoscopy to figure out the cause of these issues. My results came back with inflammation in my terminal ileum being present. I had to wait three to four months to be seen to go over the results. When I finally got in to see her last Friday, we went over said results and she ordered more testing to be done to roll out Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

The one test I’m mainly focused on and panicking about is the CT scan with contrast. It’s not the claustrophobic donut hole that I’m afraid of, it’s the oral contrast. I have heard horror stories of people feeling sick, feeling like you’re going to die or vomiting from taking the contrast. I have severe Emetophobia on top of Pharmacophobia. Seeing these stories has me convinced I’ll have the same reaction. I’m just so afraid, I feel like I won’t be able to do it even if it means I never get answers :/ I really need some support or success stories with those who have taken Oral contrast for their ct scans. Any help is greatly appreciated.
