AITA for banning the person who lost my cat from my house?
My boyfriend and I moved in together a few months ago, I have a cat that is literally my shadow. Like she follows me everywhere, constantly on my shoulders while I do work, always has something to say and just my little side kick.
For background one of my boyfriends friends "Josh" does not like me and has publicly shown that many times so the feelings are mutual. Josh's roommate is having a friend crash at their place and I guess Josh has been wanting space and I guess he's been using my place to get said space for a bit. I do believe he's asked my boyfriend if he can just come over for a bit to relax while neither of us are home.
Well he recently went over while neither of us were home and I ended up coming home early. Walking in I was thrown off by him on my couch drinking my wine that I'd been saving but whatever, my immediate thing was that my cat didn't immediately run to the door for me. I walked around saying her name calling out to her and nothing. Checked all the hiding spaces and still nothing. I'm starting to feel myself start to panic and I ask him if he's seen my cat at all thinking maybe she slipped past me in the morning.
Turns out he did know what happened to my cat. For context I fixed the backyard so my cat could go out to play from time to time or to hangout with me while I'm in the backyard she also has a harness and I will take her out for a pup cup and to draw/chill in the park, always staying in the leash/harness. Josh had seen the harness and the safety features in the backyard and came to the conclusion she liked outside so when he would come over he would let her into the backyard leaving the door open so she could come in whenever. For some bright reason he thought to let her out of the front door for "more space". He's pet watched tons of cats before so that type of thinking was just out there for me and I went into panic mode.
There have been 2 times I've let my cat off leash outside in the open and both times I spent hours chasing her. I went around looking for my cat in the neighborhood and nothing. Josh is doing nothing to help and just saying "she'll come back on her own and when she gets hungry". I lost my cool and went off on him telling him to leave and that he's and asshole and he is never welcomed in my house or near me again. It turned into a bit of a back and forth he eventually left and I continued looking for my cat.
I didn't call or text my boyfriend but I guess Josh did and told him I was an asshole towards him over an accident and overreacting about a cat. My boyfriend came home to me still outside looking for my cat and panicking. He basically told me the similar thing of how I was doing too much over a cat and that she'd come back in her own eventually and that I could have talked to Josh nicer and I was a bit of an asshole towards him while he's already stressed out and trying to find peace.
I have been told I overreact about my cat from my parents so now idk AITA?
