Why is my DS pico doing this when launching GBA games?

When I first started using a DS pico, it would just briefly show “gba runner 2” on a back screen and then launch the game. Now I keep having to manually find the rim in a folder structure that I don’t even recognise?

Most affordable back up device for UK based user?

I’ve seen a device on eBay called GB Flash. Is this reliable enough to back up a few games? I’m aware Ez flash, everdrives, and GBX Flash are reputable but they are more of a commitment financially for me atm. I’m hoping Theres a cheap dependable device that will just let me get my games and their saves backed up to a Mac.

Probability any of my Pokémon Gen 1 + 2 saves are still alive?

I have Pokemon RBY, and GSC. Likely all bought 1999 - 2000.

I cannot remember when I last booted them up, it could’ve been 10 years. I’m thinking of getting a back up device and booting them up, incase Theres any with working saves still.

Was wondering how many of you found your saves still working after 20 years? It’s 2026 so I’m sceptical 🥹

DS Pico - Artwork hurdles..

My last post here was about getting input on what cart I should get for a NDS. I listened to all of you, and I want to firstly thank those that responded: the DS Pico mod is fantastic.

I have run into a hurdle with the artwork and I was hoping to get some input.

I have the DS Pico up and running, installed a theme, and followed a YouTube guide which linked me to that website that adds artwork to your rom folders in the DS Pico.

However, unlike in the video, my GBA games weren’t all being picked up; only about 5 of them were. I think I might know why: my rock downloads are usually the European versions, not the North American ones that I’d bet most people download. So perhaps the site scans serials inside metadata that is in the Rom? And maybe rejects attaching artwork to any that don’t strictly match NA release serials or something like that.

I’m going to experiment with replacing the eu ones with NA ones and see if it works fully. But even if it does, I was wondering, what alternative methods or tools are there to pick my own artwork? Or manual add artwork to each Rom? Maybe I’d like to keep my eu versions in there, or maybe I’ll run into artwork that I want to change.

Never used a flash cart before. Just bought a Nintendo DSL

I’m not sure which carts to avoid.

I’ve learned about carts with time bombs, and I’ve read about firmware in consoles blocking these cards also.

What else should I be wary of?

If I buy an older flash cart (likely no time bomb) does that mean the DS lite I bought, assuming it’s relatively up to date, is likely to block the card?

Analogue Sticks / DualShock Controller? (PlayStation Controllers only)

Can everyone who’s taken an interest in this share their experience and know-how on setting up any official PlayStation controllers with analogue sticks with the PSClassic?

For me personally I’m especially interested in anyone who found a set up that works with the stock system emulator (I think) and not RetroArch.

My only methods so far have been using an 8bitdo PS Classic edition dongle: lets me use DUALSHOCK 4 controller (and apparently DUALSENSE?)

I’m yet to try a DS3 controller but some of you have said this works with 8bitdo dongle, or with a cable if you use RetroArch.

But some have made a distinction between an analogue controller / DualShock that has the sticks working but only emulates the D-Pad and isn’t “real” analogue control.

Which methods actually provide real analogue controls?

Does the 8bitdo dongle not recreate real analogue controls?

I’ve noticed in my autobleem menu that u can change the controller input from SCPH-1080 to SCPH-1180 which is the original first analogue controller for ps1 (with the extended grips and concave thumb stick surfaces)

I wondered if we get a ps2 - usb converter and link an scph-1180, will the stock system recognise and work with it fully? Giving us full genuine analogue controls? And even get ape escape working?
