I keep completing the optional Elite battle POI and the encounter doesn't end

I keep doing the optional elite battle poi mission where you have to defend a civilian ship from waves of cylon ships. Eventually i kill them all and then i just end up sitting there with my ships in space and no way to seemingly end the encounter. If i click jump away then it says i haven't completed the mission and i will fail if i leave now. Anyone else experience this and have a way to fix it?

I'm trying to decide between Ral Nel, Crimson Rebellion, Mahact, or Saar. I'm up against Mentak, Barony, & Hacan and will most likely be between the Hacan and Mentak.

I originally was thinking Crimson Rebellion but the idea of Mentak taking all my commander combat trade goods sounds very annoying.

I'm considering Mahact to biostims Archon Vail after leadership to use it as a tech skip also. However, The commander powers I would aquire from my opponents aren't super amazing and Mahact's faction techs are pretty underwhelming and feel like a waste of an entropic scar.

Someone help me out and give me a persuasive argument one way or another!
