When do classes commence, and when are we expected to come to campus?
I read it was 20th July for ISI Delhi but I'm not sure. Also is it fine if we come late by a few days?

my_qualifications: top 5 IIT engineering branch B.Tech, know a decent enough of math to 'survive' M Math (also a debate in my head). IIT JAM under 30, ISI M Math under 13 (general seat guaranteed)
I want to pursue research long term (a.b.r.o.a.d) with a goal of professorship. Maybe work a little to get some savings before I start my PhD, also outside.
One thing that I've started worrying about is your effort to cgpa ratio and how that's seen by other people. ISI might make it impossible to get a decent grade and a better grade in IITB may carry me by virtue of GPA alone.
There's also exchange programs and conferences which I'm interested in going to. I don't know the scene of these properly in either.
I was called for an interview to ISI Kolkata directly so I mostly like the campus and hostel rooms.
Overall environment and crowd wise I suspect I'll like the research focused environment of ISI better, but I want to make sure I'm not harming my career (research or otherwise) by sabotaging my cgpa number on my future transcript
One more question: I don't fully understand how the seat distribution works, there are 13 general seats for both Delhi and Kolkata out of 36 but there are 18 seats each, the split of which is not given. So what's the minimum rank one would need to guarantee a seat in their preferred center as a general candidate
