QA Nurse

I’m working as a QA Nurse for a small home health agency in Texas (around 100–150 patients). My current salary is ₱20,000/month (not dollars pag nagpasweldo).

I started with the company as a PHRN, and last month I passed the NCLEX-RN. My bosses (who are also Filipinos) know that I passed, but there hasn’t been any salary increase or discussion about adjusting my compensation.

My role and responsibilities are still the same for now, but I feel like earning the NCLEX-RN adds value to my qualifications, especially since we work with a US home health agency.

Would it be reasonable to ask for a raise? Or is it fair for the company not to increase my salary unless my role or responsibilities change?

For those working in home health, QA, or BPO healthcare, I’d appreciate hearing your experiences. Did passing the NCLEX lead to a salary adjustment, or did you have to negotiate for it?

Hello! I just wanted to ask for your opinions about something that happened a few years ago.

This happened back in 2021, when I was still in high school, so I honestly didn’t know much about dental treatments or whether what happened was something I should have questioned. I simply trusted what I was told and never thought of raising any concerns at the time.

I had a root canal done in November 2021. On December 24, I messaged my dentist because I noticed the treated tooth felt loose. I even sent a video showing what I was experiencing. They asked me to come in, examined the tooth, and told me that it was normal, so I didn’t think much of it.

However, on January 2, while eating at a restaurant, I simply bit into a piece of squid and suddenly felt the tooth crack. I went back immediately, and the dentist confirmed that the tooth had fractured. It was temporarily restored, and I was referred to another dentist (I believe a more senior dentist in our province), where I eventually had to pay another ₱12,000 for additional treatment.

Looking back now, what has been bothering me is that I had already reported that the tooth felt loose before it fractured. Since I was reassured that everything was normal, I didn’t seek another opinion or question it further. Now I’m wondering whether that looseness should have prompted further investigation, or if the fracture was simply an unfortunate complication that couldn’t have been prevented.

Another thing that made me curious was the number of X-rays taken during the root canal. I had X-rays at almost every appointment, sometimes more than once in a single visit. In comparison, I previously had a root canal done by another dentist with only one or two X-rays throughout the treatment, and that tooth has never caused any problems. I understand that every case is different, so I’m not saying the number of X-rays alone means anything—I just found the difference surprising.

For dentists or those with similar experiences, do you think the looseness I reported should have been investigated further, or can a tooth still fracture shortly after a root canal even if everything was done appropriately?

I’d really appreciate your insights. Thank you!

What’s next for me after passing PNLE and NCLEX?

Need your advice po. I passed the PNLE last November 2025 and recently passed the NCLEX-RN this June 2026. I’m very grateful, pero honestly, hindi ko pa rin alam kung ano ang best next step para sa career ko.

Currently, may work-from-home job ako earning around 20k/month. Ang dilemma ko is if mag-aapply ako sa private hospital, karamihan ng nakikita kong starting salary is around 16k–20k. So financially, parang wala ring difference or baka mas mababa pa.

At the same time, gusto ko talagang magkaroon ng opportunity na makapag-abroad in the future. Ang iniisip ko ngayon is baka kailangan ko nang kumuha ng bedside hospital experience habang maaga pa. Ang initial plan ko sana is mag-gain muna ng experience dito, then target the Middle East before eventually pursuing the USRN pathway.

Sa mga nurses na nasa abroad na ngayon or dumaan sa parehong situation:

• Tama ba na unahin ko muna ang hospital experience kahit mas mababa ang sweldo compared sa current WFH job ko? • Practical ba ang Middle East as a stepping stone papuntang US? • May marerecommend ba kayong agencies or pathways for nurses aiming for the Middle East? • If you were in my position, would you leave the WFH job now or stay a little longer?

Would really appreciate your insights. Thank you!

Stopped at 96 Questions, Thought I Failed, but I Passed! (Long Post) 🙏

Hello, everyone! It’s finally my turn to give back to this community. ❤️

I passed the PNLE last November 2025 and started preparing for NCLEX in February. Initially, I planned to dedicate myself to review, but life happened.

By March, I got a work-from-home job, which I couldn’t pass up, and at the same time, I was also managing a small business. Balancing everything wasn’t easy. There were weeks when I literally didn’t study at all. I felt guilty, frustrated, and there were moments when I just wanted to cry because I felt like I wasn’t doing enough.

To make things more stressful, my ATT and eligibility got delayed because of some confusion in the records (I have a twin, and I think they mixed us up 😅). Instead of taking the exam after 3 months, everything stretched to almost 4 months. Looking back, maybe that delay happened for a reason.

For review materials, I mainly used Bootcamp. I finished the question bank early, but I have to admit, I neglected the crash videos and cheat sheets.

During my last week before the exam, that’s when panic mode kicked in. I watched all the crash videos, finished the 7-Day Crusade, watched Dr. Sharon, and listened to Mark Klimek Lecture 12. I also tried the Naxlex free trial CAT exams and got 1 Very High and 2 High chances. In Bootcamp, I had 2 Highs, 1 Very High, and 1 Borderline.

Please don’t do what I did.

If you still have time, study consistently and don’t rely on last-minute cramming. It worked out for me, but it definitely wasn’t healthy.

Fast forward to June 10 — exam day.

Like many people, I was hoping to finish at 85 questions. But God had other plans.

The moment I saw question 86, I started being anxious. My confidence dropped immediately. I remember telling myself:

“Lord, bahala na po. Basta I’ll do my best. Kahit umabot pa ito ng 150 questions.”

Then suddenly…

The computer shut off at 96 questions.

I honestly didn’t know what to feel.

I walked out feeling numb. I felt like I guessed throughout the exam. I was overthinking so much that I barely used the strategies I had learned. I only had 3 case studies, lots of SATA questions and standalone, and no bowties. In my mind, these were all bad signs.

And because of all that, I convinced myself that I had failed.

The waiting period was brutal.

For almost 60 hours, I replayed every question in my head na pwede ko maalala and kept expecting the worst.

But after those long hours…

I found out that I PASSED.

I’M OFFICIALLY A USRN. 🇺🇸😭❤️

Honestly, I still can’t believe it.

This experience taught me that the number of questions, number of case studies, or how confident you feel after the exam do not determine the outcome.

You can walk out feeling terrible and still pass.

And if you’re reading this while anxiously waiting for your results, please don’t lose hope.

If you didn’t stop at 85, that doesn’t mean you’re failing.

If you only had a few case studies, that doesn’t mean you’re failing.

If you feel like you guessed the entire exam, you’re not alone.

Trust the process. Trust your preparation.

And most importantly, trust God.

During those 60 hours, prayer was the only thing that kept me sane. God has been so good, and His timing has always been perfect. Akala ko talaga wala nang pag-asa, pero meron pala. ❤️

As my way of giving back, feel free to ask me anything, and I’ll do my best to help.

I honestly don’t know what to feel after NCLEX.

Totoo pala talaga na hindi dapat i-underestimate ang exam. One moment, feeling mo alam mo yung sagot, then paglipat sa next question, parang wala ka nang idea kung ano ang tamang sagot. 😭

Ang dami kong SATA at standalone questions. I only got 3 case studies, which made me overthink kasi ine-expect ko at least 4–5. The exam shut off at 96 items, and ngayon sobrang worried ako kung enough ba yun.

Nakakatawa kasi sa sobrang kaba ko after the exam, hindi ko na nagawa yung mandatory NCLEX mirror selfie sa elevator. 😂

For those who passed at around 85–100 questions with only a few case studies, how did you feel after the exam? Did you also think you failed but ended up passing?

NCLEX is really a different kind of stress. 😭
