Tortilla reverse shrinkflation! 🥳
I thought the tortilla package felt a bit heavy, but didn't think much of it. When I got home, I was making lunch and counted the tortillas. 12 instead of 8! That's a 50% increase. I'll take it!
There are genuinely good men out there
I was in an abusive marriage for years. The man never hit me, but he treated me like an afterthought. I tried to make myself small, and not ask for anything, so maybe he'd actually do anything for me.
One day, the kids were maybe 3 and 5, I had gotten food poisoning. For the first time in our marriage, I asked him to please stay home and help me with the kids.
He went to work anyway.
A few months ago a coworker and his wife had a baby. I was very happy for them. This is a coworker I enjoy spending time with. But I was so afraid his wife would get the same treatment as I did from my coworker. I half jokingly told my coworker to please take care of his wife. He went of course!
This afternoon I was helping him with a computer issue and we started chatting a bit via slack. Then he went: oh! Wife just let me know that she is exhausted, and is waving the white flag. I've got to go.
Immediately. Just like that.
And I'm so happy that he did that. And that she could just go: hey, I need help. And he drops everything and goes. And I'm totally bawling my eyes out. Bittersweet tears for the years I did it without help. But thankful that there are men out there that you actually step up.
Working at my current workplace has taught me that there are a bunch of good men out there. They're all married, but they're out there. 😂
ELI5: Hiberboot RegEx change vs "Require use of fast startup" ADMX - What's the difference?
Good morning! Fledgling Sysadmin here. Last year my manager and I set the ADMX "Require use of fast startup" to disabled, thinking this would allow our end users to shut down their laptops at the end of the night, and it, you know, actually shut down. This turned out not to be the case. Did some Google-Fu, and found that no, actually, there doesn't seem to be a setting inside ADMX that will disable fast startup/hibernation, unless I head into the registry and made a change there. Disabling "Require use of fast startup" inside the GPO, can just set it to enabled or not configured. (ie disabled = not configured) source Which is what I did and applied this GPO to a few test groups in my company.
Question: What is the difference?
Thanks!
Cowbird egg? (Photo taken in my hanging basket)
I was fertilizing my hanging baskets. I had noticed some house finches being very attached to my front porch, and when I lifted the basket down, I saw their little nest and eggs. However, one of the eggs is much larger and looks different from the other two. Is this a parasitic birds egg? Should/can I dispose of it to increase the chances of the house finch eggs survival rate?
And to the little i yelling at me that the photo has to be taken with a telescopic lens, it wasn't. 😭 But once I figure it out what to do with the nest, I'll leave it alone for the rest of the season, even if my petunias will look sad.
Edit: Thanks! I'll leave the egg and nest alone.
I think she can read my mind and knows I'm thinking of taking her to the forest preserve.
Brain "fog"? I got a "memory" that wasn't real. None of it happened.
Last week was a rough one at work. Everything was on fire. Friday afternoon, I finally could catch my breath, and I "remembered" something one of my bosses had told me about an office change. As clear as day. So, I reached out to all three of my bosses (it's complicated!) and suggested an improvement before the change happens.
I got three very confused emails back, asking what on EARTH I was talking writing about. It never happened. The change in the office, that I 100% remember as happening? Never happened. This isn't fog. This is my brain being hijacked by something.
This morning I got an OB Gyn to up my Estrogen. Hopefully that will improve this "fog" (aka brain hijack) and reduce my night sweats.
I give up! The rabbits are eating EVERYTHING! 😭
What can I do at this point? This is an echinacea. I thought they'd be at least a LITTLE bit rabbit proof.
Took my corgo on a hike yesterday
And while on a break in the shade, she posed majestically for this photo. 🤩
