Day trip: Siena alone or Siena+San Gimignano+Chianti wine tasting and lunch?

This will be sometime between Oct 22-27. We have one day to do a day trip from Florence. Our options are to take the bus and spend the day in Siena (just the two of us) or go with a group to Siena, Chianti and San Gimignano. The group one would only have 1.5 hours in Siena.

I really really want to spend time in Siena but also want to do wine tastings in Chianti. I can’t figure out a way to get both except the group one, but I wish it had a longer time in Siena.

(I think I can figure out Siena a on my own, but I don’t think I can figure out the Chianti part like which wineries to go to, how to have a lunch like that, etc which is why I was looking at the group stuff.)

What would you do? I’ll take any advice!

Fiction novel written in the 80s or 90s about the fashion world

I read this book in the 90s. I don’t know when it was written but I’m guessing 80s or 90s.

The story takes place in the fashion world in the 60s. There’s lots of characters but the main two are two girls who are starting out as designers. I don’t remember if they were friends or enemies. Maybe they went to fashion school together?

One (I think) is an elegant, thin blonde and the other is a short brunette.

The blonde gets a makeover at one point by a makeup artist and her mother says, “He always uses too much blush.”

Anyway, the blonde becomes a successful sophisticated designer and the brunette goes the opposite way and designs mini skirts and “cheap clothing”. Very successful too.

I remember there’s a gay character that put makeup on and someone is like, “Is that foundation on your face?” And he’s super embarrassed.

That’s all I can remember.

Please help!

Flamingo Hotel quietest rooms?

I’m looking to book a room for 3 nights and I’m trying to figure out which room. Habitat Tower—Garden vs City vs High roller vs Attraction views.

I’m an extremely light sleeper so I really don’t want to hear bass from the clubs or early morning music from the pool.

Anyone have advice?

I have a lot of executive dysfunction issues.

Maybe my biggest problem though is that I can’t get myself into the shower. I don’t even know why. I just can’t do it. Paralysis.

I finally figured out something that works.

It all started when I had been in bed and my husband and I were contemplating doing something fun. But I couldn’t force myself to get ready. I asked him to help me. He tried all kinds of things but I still didn’t want to get into the shower.

Finally, I asked him to just turn on the shower water for me. Medium hot.

Then I felt like I HAD to get into the shower asap. The sound of the shower water did it.

So now he does it for me. And it works. I hop in!

I hope this could help at least one person out there. Get your SO or sympathetic sister or roommate to help you out if you can.

Why YSK:

I remember seeing a post, and it also mentioned many times in comments on various posts, that a large pizza is more food than two medium pizzas. Someone had done the math.

The problem is that Papa John’s large pizza is not anywhere near 18 inches. It is 13.5 inches. Their medium pizzas are 11.5 inches.

Two mediums: about 208 sq in

One large: about 143 sq in

Just for people who want to order Papa John’s (and get the 2 mediums on special for $6.99 or $7.99 a piece) and don’t want to get fucked over.
