Bringing home a kitten soon, what should I prepare?
Hi everyone,
I’m bringing home a kitten in a few weeks and want to make sure I’m fully prepared before the big day. This will be our first kitten in the house, so I’d love advice from people who’ve done this recently.
What I’m looking for help with:
• What essentials should I have ready before the kitten arrives?
• What should I set up in the “safe room”?
• What things do new cat parents often forget?
• Any tips for the first 24–72 hours?
What I already know I need:
• Litter box + kitten‑safe litter (any recommendations?)
• Food/water bowls
• Kitten food
• Carrier (any recommendations?)
• Scratching post (any recommendations?)
• Toys
• Bed/blanket
If you have a checklist, photos of your setup, or things you wish you knew earlier, I’d really appreciate it. Trying to make the transition as smooth and stress‑free as possible. Additionally I have 2 daughters at home, 5 and 8 years, so any advice as they are overly excited and I do not want the kitten to be over whelmed so any advice would be appreciated
Thanks in advance!
