[Rant] Placement season is honestly frustrating

I know I might get hate for saying this, but I just want to share what I am feeling.

Before I start I admit that my CGPA is low, and I accept that I should have worked harder earlier. Ntg can be done now.

The frustrating part is that I do have decent skills, but I am still not getting shortlisted for many companies because of my CGPA.

I am mainly targeting T2 companies, and at this point, even a lower end T2 offer would also work as neither me nor my family are in a place to negotiate (ukwim).

What makes it more frustrating is seeing students with 8/8.5+ CGPA getting shortlisted for these companies, even when they already know they don't want the offer. Some of them are giving the OA and attending the interview only to deliberately get rejected because the package is not what they are looking for.

I completely understand wanting a better package. If you get this offer and then use it as a backup while trying for a better company, that's totally fair. You worked hard for your GPA and you deserve good opportunities.

But if you already know that you don't want the job, deliberately taking someone else's spot and then intentionally failing the interview feels unfair to students like me who genuinely need that opportunity. For some of us, getting even one decent placement can make a huge difference to our family's financial situation.

I am not trying to blame anyone or ask for sympathy. I just wanted to share how this situation feels from the other side.

Idk reddit removed my post: Maybe my words were too harsh ig, so had to use Al for a better presentation.

Tired of Capstone team members. Can I change the scope a bit? Need advice

So basically I am the only one doing work in my capstone group. Other 3 are just chilling. I complained to my mentor also but they worked for like 3 days and then went back to doing nothing. Same story.

I have placements going on, internship work on the side, and I also have a life to live. I genuinely cannot sit alone and build something that was supposed to be a 4 person project.

Initially the plan was really big. Phase 1 and 2 had some promises, paper publish and all that. But at this point I just want to submit something that works and get out. Even a B grade is fine, I am not even aiming for more.

So my question is can I just slightly reduce the scope of the project? Not fully change it, just cut some features or simplify things so one person can actually finish it? Or will that be a problem with the evaluators since we already submitted phase 1 and 2 docs?

Has anyone done this? How did you handle it? Did you talk to the guide directly or just submit and hope nobody notices?

Any advice would really help right now.

[Project] Project Idea for Juniors : A site where PES students can share their OA/interview experiences. Wonder why no one built this yet.

Placements are starting for us, and I got a project idea that might be useful for both us and juniors.

Build a website where PES students can submit their interview experiences after every company visit. Things like:

  • Questions they were asked
  • Interview rounds
  • Coding questions
  • HR questions
  • Tips and mistakes to avoid
  • Overall experience
  • Category like On Campus/Off campus/ Internship and so on.

Something similar to https://takeuforward.org/interview but focused on PES students and a better interface.

I don't know if something like this already exists. If it does do drop the link here. But if not, I wonder why nobody has built it yet.

The hard part would be verification, moderation, and making sure people don't post fake information. That's on whoever builds it.

I just got the idea and thought I'd put it out here. Could be a useful project and might genuinely help you prepare for placements.

[Placements]6th semester completed. CGPA: 7.3. How cooked am I? Forget T1, can I still have hope for T2?

One post for all 7–7.5 CGPA CSE students.

Seniors, please share the harsh reality, tips, and your experiences.

Decent at DSA + 1 internship(very small startup) + A few decent project. Currently learning core, SQL, and aptitude this summer.

I'm mainly looking for advice regarding T2 companies. I'll still try for T1 companies, but with just 1% hope.

Worst case let me know about Tier3 also.

If a company revokes an offer before joining, can students participate in placements again?

What usually happens if a company selects students through campus placements and then withdraws the offer before joining. Does PES ban them? Does PES allow those students to participate in placements again or are they still considered placed since they had already accepted that offer?
