Radeon RX 9070 XT Open Box (Phoenix)

Sharing for for those local to Phoenix MC and in the market for a AMD Radeon rx 9070 XT, it looks like there’s one open box available for around a 10% discount compared to the current sale price of $660.

There were two this morning and it seems like a reasonable value assuming everything is in good condition.

Happy hunting!

Deal or No Deal (270KP vs 9800x3d + rx 9070 XT edition)

Looking to update my system and I’ve been eyeballing either the Intel 270K plus or 9800x3d bundles and a 9070/XT for the upgrade. I know that I’m about 2-weeks late on the CPU bundles since they went up. With memory prices not getting any better, I’m looking for advice if it’s worth the additional $180 is worth the 9800 over the 270k and if listed 9070 XT for $660 is a “good deal”.

I’ll be playing mainly at 1440p/2k for games and doing some light/medium productivity work as this will be my main home computer, so I’m leaning towards the Intel bundle as the cost savings bumps me into the 9070 XT vs 9070 standard territory.

*Update: Thank you for all the input! I decided to give the Intel Ultra 7 270k Plus a shot as the bundle seemed to check more of my boxes overall and was able to give me room to upgrade to a full Radeon rx 9070 XT with some wiggle room as my local MC had a Like New open box for $590!

Decade Old War Machine Update

Looking to finally update from my decade old war machine that’s currently running an Intel 6600k and GTX 970 and I’ve been looking at a few options as I tend not to update systems often, but it’s finally time.

I’m looking at two options for the CPU side of things since I’m a lucky as soul that lives near a Microcenter. I’ve been looking at moving to the Intel 270KP or AMD 9800x3D as both have good bundles on them, but I’m leaning towards the Intel side as I use my computer for more mixed productivity (CAD/CAM, AI processing/development, light content creation, VMs) and casual living room gaming at 1440p/4k (chasing frame rate isn’t that important to me).

On the other end, I’ve been looking at the AMD Radeon side for GPU as they seem to be providing a better “value” proposition. I’ve found a few scattered deals on both the rx 9070 GRE (12gb), 9070 (16gb), and 9070 XT (16gb) and looking for opinions if the +$100 for the 9070 (16gb) or +$200 for the 9070 XT (16gb) is worth the difference.

I’m looking at spending in the $1200-1400 USD range for upgrades and am not in a particular rush, but I suspect that good deals, especially when memory is involved, will be harder to find. I don’t have the flexibility to catch the “deal of the century” if they pop up.

Looking for advice on which pairing would be good for supporting the next 4-5 years of continued support and if there’s alternative option to look into above what I currently having in the mix!

9070 GRE, 9070 (16gb), or 9070 XT?

Looking to finally update from my decade old war machine that’s currently running a GTX 970 and have been looking to the red side. I’ve found a few scattered deals on both the rx 9070 GRE (12gb), 9070 (16gb), and 9070 XT (16gb) and looking for opinions if the +$100 for the 9070 (16gb) or +$200 for the 9070 XT (16gb) is worth the difference?

I know that the GRE performance is ~20% below the standard 9070 and ~35% below the XT in gaming, but I’m looking at more the value proposition as I tend not to upgrade very often and suspect that good deals may be harder to find as the rampocalypse is upon us. I’m not in any particular rush to update, but also don’t have flexibility to catch the “deal of the century” if they pop up.

P.S. My use case will be casual gaming at mostly at 1440 or 4K in a living room environment (I’m fine with turning graphics settings down to run higher resolution) while still being functional as a workstation (CAD/CAM modeling, light content creation, and coding/AI development). PC specs are Intel 270KP, Gigabyte Z890 Eagle, 32gb DDR5 6000, Corsair 280mm AIO, Samsung 980 512Gb + 4TbSeagate Barracuda HD, EVGA 750W PS, Corsair C70, Windows 11/Linux Ubuntu 24.04
