Traveling with large doods long distance/cross country

Hi, I’m currently driving from east coast (MA) to west coast (CA) with my 40lb doodle because I didn’t want to put him in cargo on account of physical and emotional trauma and Bark air is too expensive.

Day 1 he panted a lot so I medicated him with trazodone for day 2. It was mostly effective for 8hrs but still panted a bit. I’m wondering if I made a mistake and am traumatizing him for next 4-5 days or should have just put him in cargo and gotten it over with in 1 day.

I want to hear other owners thoughts. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

Is it crazy to cross 50pc monthly take home pay in HCOL as rent?

I will be moving from east coast to west coast for a new job. The pay is roughly the same (165k). At my old job, I used to contribute 15pc pre-tax for 401k deferral and put automatic recurring 1800/mo in brokerage VTSAX.

New job provides after tax 401k option with in plan Roth conversion (up to 10pc). So I was planning to do the 15pc pre-tax and 10pc for MBDR. Might still do a reduced brokerage in VTSAX if I can.

But doing both 401k/MBDR would reduce my take home to the point that a 1 bed/1bath rent in SoCal would easily cross 50pc of my monthly net take home pay.

I am way over the TMG recommended percentage for rent based on gross and takehome pay standards. Is this crazy? Any thoughts or feedback?

Note: I will get some bonus (starting 2028) but since it’s not guaranteed, I haven’t taken into acct my calculation above. I have already maxed out backdoor Roth IRA for 2026. Invested assets at present: Roth IRA 83k, 401k at 279k, brokerage at 328k.

Season 3 Sharebnb birth

Just started watching season 3 currently on the 3rd episode (Sharebnb birth).

Two parts I wanted to discuss about.

A) the behavior of the Sharebnb owner screaming about the goose down sheets in context of the recent Cassie/Jon Airbnb viral video where they demeaned the guest about minor things (moving the remote and ottoman). How justified or unjustified was the show character?

B) the temporary tenant booking a Sharebnb for her childbirth instead of her own home or a relative’s/friend’s. While I have heard of stories where there have been issues with healthcare professionals who don’t listen to their female patients or patients of color, how justified or unjustified was the pregnant woman’s actions.

What do you all think?

After tax 401k contribution & Roth conversion

If a company allows after-tax contribution to 401(k) account (i.e. 72k IRS limit-24.5k employee deferral limit-employer match), does that mean it will always allow in plan Roth conversion or in plan Roth rollover? Has anyone seen an after tax contribution allowed 401(k) account without Roth conversion?

Thanks in advance

Delay in Xarelto with me saving rebate

Even though I provided my Xarelto with me saving card number to my insurance, they didn’t process it in the 90 day mail order pharmacy.

On 4/16, I had submitted the rebate request to JnJ through thru their savings website. The original estimated timeline was said to be 4-6 weeks but I have still not received the rebate (~$700). The representative on the phone is no help, they escalated it which has a turnaround time of another 2-3 weeks.

Anyone else have similar experience?

In hindsight, I wish I had just ordered it via Canadian pharmacy and saved that money.

Itchy doodle

My goldendoodle usually gets super itchy late July/August each year and after a Cytopoint shot and it reduces a lot. This year however, his itchiness started pretty early (May) and he scratched himself crazy inside both his ears. I gave him a Cytopoint this year too (about 3 days back) but he still seems to be super itchy. Not sure if he’s building up tolerance or what. I also give him daily dose of fish oil(Nordic naturals).

I’m looking for advice on what has helped your doods relax. Someone suggest olewo red beets topper but I have seen mixed reviews.

Pic added as tax.

Edit: he’s on lamb kibble (Costco). No chicken in diet

During Covid, so around 2020 or 2021, I had read noblesse and the gamer but I kind of dropped it because the story in the noblesse wasn’t moving fast enough for my taste and the MC was just too bland. The gamer seemed like the MC had an easy speed run through the story with their OP abilities. Both became boring.

Most recently I had started reading ORV and I got hooked on it, especially because of the art style, complex-ish story with depiction of characters dying, MC actually struggling to get through the scenarios. Since I’m all caught up with ORV, I looked at this sub and picked up the greatest estate developer. Unfortunately, even after reading 40 something chapters, I can’t seem to get into it. The artwork is very shoujo-ish and unpolished, MC having no struggles and getting lucky at every step with just the animals that they need for their situation or the main characters liking the MC spontaneously. And the dialogue sounds very childish too. Not my taste.

So I am looking for any action or thriller fantasy stories where the MC may not need to know the future and have an easy run but has a proper interesting story/struggle and there is a proper character development. No romance please.
