Our goldendoodle, Deigo, turns 1 year old next month. Wondering how to make it special for him.
He enjoys being outside, so we plan to bring him to a dog beach. So that he can run and play in the sand and with other dogs there. We do this often, so we may find a different dog beach that we haven’t been to yet.
I’ve also heard about giving them a special meal. We really wanna do this. Dog cake seems obvious. A new pet shop just opened up near us that makes pet treats/cakes in house. But it was suggested to me by another dog parent (Nihon Ken) to provide them with some animal organs that we don’t usually give him. Ngl, I forgot if he said they were raw or freeze dried.
We use freeze dried chicken hearts as toppers. We’ve given him freeze dried duck feet, pork snouts, turkey necks, chicken necks, and duck heads as chew treats. He loves the necks.
Also thinking about a pet photoshoot, to properly document this milestone for him. Open to recommendations for photographers who specialize with pets in SoCal (SD).
Open to suggestions!
Hi all,
I have a 4 year old mini Goldendoodle, names Ruben. He has a very sensitive stomach and has been eating the Farmer’s Dog since he was 1 and 1/2.
I’m thinking he might be allergic to chicken - any recs for food? Specifically for lamb? He eats mostly wet food.
He does not like turkey/beef/pork that much.
I have taken my Goldendoodle puppy to the vet three times and she has seen two vets. Both basically recommended that it’s my choice to when I want to get her spayed. The earliest they do it is 6 months at my vet. Or they said I could wait until she gets her first period. I’ve called again recently and keep getting the same answer, that it’s my choice. Is this normal from a vet? Should I take my pup to a different vet for recommendations?
Ive had pets before but this is the first time ive had a puppy. I was hoping my vet would be more helpful to make this decision easier for me. I got my puppy at 3 months from another family who had to rehome her. She will be 6 months in two weeks. My aunt actually has her brother (from the same litter) and she told me that she was told her dog would be about 60 pounds. So I assume my pup could be about the same. She’s currently around 30-35 pounds at almost 6 months. I read that it could benefit larger dogs to wait to get them spayed. Anyway, just curious if anyone had an advice or information. Or if it’s best I reach out to a different vet?
Appreciate any help! Apologies if this sort of question isn’t allowed.
I’m super curious how a schnauzer haircut would look on a doodle? I have a straight wavy doodle. Can I see some pictures of your schnauzer haircut on your doodle?
hi my golden doodle is about 4 years old and for some reason he hates eating dog food i was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience with theirs and if so what brand theirs likes. i heard they can be picky about food.
Our pup is about 8 months old and over the past few months his brown highlights on his ears and around his muzzle have gotten more prominent but not really spread. Think he has the fade gene?
Bozo had an awesome time seeing so many humans and other pups at central park! he got stopped too many times to get pet and have an opportunity to lick everyone he could get a chance to and of course, got to run so much that he passed out as soon as we got in the car to get back home ☺️
brought my doodle because of some ear issues, i was told he has a yeast based issue, but some bacteria was present.
I was also told his ears were pretty dirty inside of them.
how are you guys cleaning the inside of their ears? the vet said in a month when his ear are better (he is on meds) i would bring him back, they would sedate him and then pull all the hair from the inside of the ears.
This feels like something i should have been doing all along at home.
you guys use clippers? scissors? you actually pluck his ear fur?
Hi everyone! I’m struggling so badly with my puppy and could really use some help. He’s a 15 week old mini Goldendoodle, 13 lbs, and we’ve had him for a little over a month. We also have a 5 year old, 12 lb Cockapoo and she’s over it.
I didn’t anticipate how much he would bother our older dog. He constantly chases her, bites her ears, climbs on her, and doesn’t seem to respect her boundaries. He’s now slightly bigger than her, so I’m worried he could actually hurt her like yesterday he grabbed onto her ear and she yelped. We have a playpen to separate them, but he hates it and whenever he’s out he immediately goes after her. Even when we’re at the vets he will growl and bark at other dogs
He’s also extremely mouthy with us. He’ll randomly bite my legs, hands, etc., especially when frustrated. Redirecting and walking away haven’t really worked. Training is also incredibly difficult because he has almost no attention span, and I feel like he’s not improving if anything, he seems to be getting worse. He can bite hard enough to leave marks, so I currently wouldn’t feel comfortable having kids around him.
Outside, he eats everything — grass, mulch, wood chips, rocks, etc. If I try to get something out of his mouth, he snaps at my hand. I keep him on a leash, but if I stop him from getting something, he’ll growl, bark, and bite the leash. So, I’m afraid he’s making my other dog behave bad like getting more territorial and upset if someone bothers her
I’m just completely overwhelmed and feel like I’m doing something wrong. I also can’t tell if I’m dealing with normal, difficult puppy behavior or the beginning of something more serious. Has anyone had a mini goldendoodle puppy like this around 15 weeks and had things significantly improve and how did you do it?
Hey there everyone was creating this post because about 3 weeks ago i got a mini golden doodle and everything was going fine for weeks but about 5 days ago he has been having diarrhea and loose stool and struggling to poop. We have taken him to the vet / pet hospital etc etc and have gotten iv fluids and medicine and x-rays and viral swabs they have ruled out paro , and his blood work and vitals were all fine. obstruction im starting to wonder if its a chicken based wet food , kibble that is causing it? He has been eating the same chicken kibble and Purina puppy food since we got him could he devlop a sensitivity / allergy to chicken? Were now going to be giving him chicken and rice the next 3-4 days to see if that helps anyone have any similar experience?
Anyone experience this with their baby. She’s 4 months and still pukes her guts out within 10 min of a car ride. I need to take her to get her rabies shot and get microchip soon and the office is 40 min away help!
