Food tasting strange on valcyclovir

Hey so i'm on this, and I have like every bad symptoms, brain fog, headaches, random dizziness, depression, fatigue, loss of appetite. But one thing i dont seen anyonoe mention is, other than loss of appetite, I am dealing with food tasting so weird, like unpleasant and different. Its like its affecting my taste buds. Is anyone else having this symptom? It's pretty horrible because in addition to having no real normal excitement to eat, just kinda making yourself do it, foods you like taste so different and unpleasant.

Lysine for hsv

Hi all

So, sorry to be a buzz kill, but I'm a rape victim and I now have herpes outbreaks on my genitals. I'm on valcyclovir which is causing horrific dizziness headaches depression lethargy brain fog, nausea mildly but a big loss of appetite inability to eat normally and food tastes extremely weird. It's weird cuz I do eat but it's like I don't want to and all food tastes kinda weird.

I do not know if it's hsv1 or 2, and I'm basically a sexual assault victim that can not get any help and I am forced to take this medication.

I'm hoping my abusers will let me switch to lysine which I speculate I can tolerate better. I mean gotta keep the quality of life up as well as I can being an assault victim who had my life ruined by the Epstein dudes. So I'm seeking any testimony who was successful not taking this garbage and using lysine instead, as poor as my quality of life is I would like it to be less poor.

Thanks a bunch, again sorry for the buzz kill!

My picky poodle loves the farmers dog

Tulip photo cuz she's cute

I just wanted to give a heads up to other poodle owners who have a poodle who's very food picky as it's common to the breed. I have tried so many foods and tricks to get tulip to eat, and none have worked great. It is a struggle to keep her at least low normal weight for this reason, and when I got her from my sister she was literally underweight with a very neglected matted coat because my sister was doing nothing to care for her other than put food out, which if you have tulip will result in her legit just under eating until the bones in her butt and ribs are visible.

For awhile I have settled on feeding royal canin wet poodle food mixed with a little hounds and gatos, a little royal canin poodle kibble, and topped with Stella and chewy raw food topper. This was after a lot of trial of different foods and these are the ones she likes best, but even doing this she commonly snub breakfast and only eat when really hungry late in day.

I just want to say I was amazed how well she ate today when I mixed the farmer's food chicken recipe into half her old food. She ate the whole plate and did it with this like mmmm I really like some of this but not all of it, which I knew was her responding to the 50% new food mixed with 50% old food. I'm especially surprised she loved the chicken recipe so much as she has always hated chicken dog food legit just won't eat it so I only feed her beef and lamb which she tolerated. The royal canin is made with chicken, but this is the ONLY exception, and royal canin wet poodle food seems to be made hyper appetizing to cater to picky poodles.

But she's loved this hella more than the royal canin.

Just wanted to give a shout out I'm not earning any money, simply cuz I have struggled with toots eating for 1.5 years and I know there might be other picky poodle owners here in the same position, try the farmers dog it's so worth it to see your pup eat like normal not starve herself until late in day and then only reluctant eat. I'm hoping I can get her to put on more weight, cuz I only ever got her to low normal from underweight and wished she would gain. She's a small mini poodle and only weighs 8.6, I think she should be at least over 9 to be a true middle of the road healthy weight.

Anyway give it a try if you can, so worth it not to deal with picky poodle food refusal and worrying she's going to dip into underweight again.

Worried about TNR male i released

Hi, so i trapped a young male, and was able to get him a TNR appointment the day after next. This morning he was due to be released. The night of his surgery everything seemed fine, he ate really well, no issues. However this morning when i went to check on him, i noted he peed on the pad and it was really concentrated, and he seemed really tired. Hes a semi feral so he meows a lot in the trap poor boy. What i did was i poured extra water on his food (my experience is putting water in the trap is counter intuitive, cuz they just knock it over, and i add a lot of water to food and only give wet food for hydration vs put actual water they will just spill everywhere). Because he is semi feral and had given up after meowing so long, i was able to move his tail and look at the site, it looked ok, i didnt see any bleeding or anything wrong. I tried to give him capstar in food, with loads of water.

When i checked on him again he had drank all the water, but didnt touch the food. Just looking defeated/depressed still meowing weakly. Seemed very tired. He peed again, which i was glad to see, and his urine was not as concentrated this time. But still very "tired" seeming and weak.

I speculated he may have been dehydrated leading to fatigue and really concentrated urine and less appetite. I was also thinking, he was so depressed in the trap after meowing constantly at this point it was counter intuitive to keep him in here. Since his second void was large and less concentrated after he drank water i decided to release him. I wanted to keep him to monitor him, but since he drank so muich and peed a lot i didnt think it was a risk like he could be in renal failure from dehydration, and at this point the most likely reason for food refusal is it had capstar in it, and he was depressed.

Just wanted to check in if anyone has been in this situation did i make the right decision releasing him? I put water and food near where he usually hangs out, hes not a regular in my yard but he hangs out a lot at this junkyard place right next to my house. I saw no bleeding, nothing wrong with the neuter, i figured he was mildly dehydrated and depressed both, so after he drank all the water and peed less concentrated a lot, i figured it was better to release him than keep stressing him out to "monitor" him given no signs of decreased urine output or not responding to the fluids he took. But i am worried about him, and worried i should have kept him. Did i make the right choice?

Found out my new "female cat with kittens" is actually a random young male.

I have a colony in my mom's yard... its a big yard so its kinda 2 colonies cuz the groups dont gel with each other. First colony is matriarch persephone, her 3 babies now adults from her last year litter aurdrey, tiger lily, and bandit, and 1 more hero who is also 1 year. Hero, is interesting, cuz he's actually the second queen felicity's kitten (i will describe them in a moment).

Then, there is the "Back of the yard" colony, these cats are less established, felicity, who is a white and tabby queen that came last summer but left in the winter (no idea where she goes) but every summer she returns because i got the eats, her 3 kittens, and a new arrival this summer a young "female void". I assumed this was a female, because so snuggly with the kittens, i assumed felicity and her were friends and coparenting their kittens.

Last year, it was just felicity, she had no other "friend cat" so was easily bullied by persephone who was here first int eh front of the yard. Because i couldnt help ehr as much, she was always being bullied out and hiding so much and her kittens, her entire litter died except for hero. I was able to save hero, anda fter that day he rejected his mom and insisted on joining persephone and her kittens and became like her 4th kitten.

Then there are the random toms who come for food but dont stay, cuz they need to be neutered. Chad, the dominant tom who makes every cat bolt when he eats and does what he wants and fathers most of the kittens, this guy is basically part of the colony now cuz he comes virtually every day. Frank sinatra, who i am pretty sure is a dumped pet or a neglected current pet, an unneutered handsome male with green eyes who sings all day, and loves to show up when queens in heat, he comes somewhat frequently but not every day, and an older sickly tom cat who is super feral, white and tabby, but he comes so infrequently i cant plan to trap him. I keep thinking this last guy passed until he shows up again 3 weeks later. Feel bad for that boy but hes so feral he wont even try to joint he colony just shows up randomly then runs and disappears for weeks.

I decided to name that queen felicity cuz it means joy, and i felt sad for her that all her babies died vs persephone's who lived, and was being bullied so i couldnt feed and help her as much. Well she's back this year, and she has this friend i assumed was also a female and some of the 3 kittens were hers, as they were so manyd ifferent sizes, 2 of them were like several weeks older than the tiny tabby. I assumed each had a litter, a few weeks apart, and one of them had 2 kittens that lived other just 1 that lived, i couldnt tell which was which cuz they were so clingy and all helped each others kittens. I named this "black female void" nefertiti and made jokes they are like lesbian moms coparenting their kittens.

Imagine my shock while doing TNR, i discover that "black void mom" is actually just a young male. I couldnt believe it. Legit SNUGGLES with the kittens, they seem like 2 moms coparenting kittens and teaming up to protect their turf from persephone and her now adult kids. The weirdest part of this is I KNOW felicity from last year, she didnt have a surviving black kitten so there is no chance this is her last year now adult male kitten. Her only surviving adult kitten is hero who is a tabby with orange eyes and joined persephone's group when he realized more resources cuz persephone bullies his mom. I had no idea that was possible, a random boy cat young tom cat, will clique up with a queen help her with the kittens for friendship and protection but it's very cute. So, its not 2 different litters, they are all felicity's kittens and the really tiny one must just be a runt.

I renamed him enigma, which is fitting, cuz i didnt know that was possible. Cat behaviors learning every day.

EDIT: before anyone gives me shit about how i was not getting them fixed earlier, i live in a city with no TNR program, there are no local resources, i am on a fixed income. This year i knew i had to do something, and i was able to find a rescue to help a little bit AND a new low cost spay/neuter clinic opened up within driving distance. As soon as i was made aware of that help, i began mass TNRing these cats. I now have persephone, her 3 kids audrey tigerlilly bandit fixed, i just TNRed felicity and her young male friend, i was able to TNR chad today, and the only remaining cats that need to be fixed are hero, frank sinatra, both males neither dominant so not a high priority, and the last kittens i have to get are felicitty 3 remaining babies. I legit rescued all the queens babies adopted them out or adopted them personally as well, and now the cycle is over. So before you give me any shit just consider that: i am isolated, there was no TNR program in the cityn or within driving distance, i had no help at all i didnt know what to do but as soon as i got a little help and a low cost program opened i did it.

TNR cat is hiding in the ceiling, ADVICE please

So i trap trained a skittish semi feral cat and got her finally spayed. I made the mistake of putting her in a zipped up to top playpen, and "somehow" the playpen was opened and she got out.

Now, I want to say i have trauma and my dog was murdered by ppl locally who have been harassing me for awhile, back in june. They set up a decoy, so i couldnt walk with him the other way, and was rushed by a dude with two trained pitbulls going the other way the decoy directed me to. I watched him scream, mauled to death.

So, the reason i am saying this about my dog, is, when i discovered her missing in the morning, her pen right by the back door, and there was NO SIGN of her ANYWHERE, i looked everywhere, i looked in the ceiling, i looked twice, I concluded she was abducted and it was related to the murder of my dog. I kept hoping i was wrong, kept searching for her in the yard, but given my dog was just killed and i have had problems with ppl around here, they just killed my dog AND i have had kittens stolen before (i am trying to TNR the feral cats) by day 2 i started to accept she was probably kidnapped. The pen was right by the door (i placed it there in case she got out, i could open the door and she would run out). So it is nothing, if the door was unlocked (my mom had unlocked it that morning to let out my brother's dog who was over) taht they came in to take her, for training their dogs. I started to fear, and finally accept, what probably happened was, they knew i was doing TNR, lots of cats near my house they know it, and saw an opportunity the door was left unlocked and took her.

I didnt want to be right, but after looking for her in the yard, keep looking around house, i was like "probably what happened" given my DOG was just murdered by these people and they have taken kittens before. Too many times to describe. It would be nothing for them to go after a vulnerable cat in a playpen, if they knew the door was left open after dog let out.

Two weeks pass, i start to accept this possibility. No signs of her anywhere.

Until today, as stated, 2 weeks later. I was preparing food for my animals when suddenly, i see her drop from the utility room attached to the kitchen, RUN through the hallway, up through the electric box back in the ceiling.
I speculate what she was trying to do was climb down on the wood beams, but slipped so fell, thus was exposed in daylight hours.

So the lay out of the home, there is a front door, then a hallway that is narrow with a drop ceiling. An electric box is to the left of the front door if you look at it from the inside of the home. Down this hall is the kitchen, and a utility room is to the left with boiler/water heater.

Despite me looking in the ceiling multiple times, what this semi feral TNR cat was doing, is climbing up through a small hole in the covered electrical box, then climbing over the drop ceiling, then squeezing through a small hole from the drop ceiling in the hall leading into the kitchen ceiling, where she now has access to the utility cabinet with heater/boiler. I speculate climbing down from here, at night, she comes to eat left over cat food and water. Then goes back into the ceiling through either the utility room or electrical box.

MERCIFULLY, she cannot go anywhere else as the other rooms are sealed off from this loop.

Unfortunately she has been using one of the drop ceiling tiles as her litter box, and that was an unpleasant surprise to make.

I have a few questions, if anyone at all has been in a situation like this, can you please advise:

  1. This cat is semi feral, she wont hiss scratch bite and just avoids. She only hiss if she truly feels terrified. It took a few weeks to trap train her to eat in a havahart outside. What are the odds, if i buy a different looking smaller trap, i can trap train her again to go in it? I'm terrified she will never go in a trap again and i will just have ceiling cat now.
  2. This was likely unwise, but when i discovered her, i had a plan to exhaust her then scruff her to release her back to her home, in her yard... OR block off her exits, so she would run in the yard. She looped around but never would give up so i can scruff her, OR run out the back door held open. This confrontation lasted like an hour before, exhausted, panting, in the corner of the drop ceiling, she receded behind a tiny wall, neither going into the kitchen or the hallway drop ceiling. I speculate she is still hiding there as i write this, so terrified from us trying to direct her out the back door or getting close enough to scruff. I"m afraid i scared her so much, she may just remain frozen in place for a really long time.
  3. My plan is to buy a new trap, different smelling/looking than the one i trained her to (a standard sized havahart). Shes a very small cat, barely bigger than an older kitten, so i'm buying an 8 inch high 7 inch wide 24 inch long small animal trap, and put it in the drop ceiling, and gradually trap train her again to it. Is it likely in desperation of hunger, she will eventually brave going inside of it?
  4. If anyone has been in this situation, is it possible for a healthy young cat to die in a ceiling even if she has exits to leave? Amazingly her body condition is still really good, her siteline is healed. I speculate she has been feeding herself by coming down at night to eat the cat food i leave out for my residents. Thinig is I am VERY afraid, she could die in the ceiling, once i stop leaving food out at night and ONLY leave food near the trap i will set. Is it likely she can die up there, will a scared cat prefer to die hiding vs go in a trap for food?

If any advise similar situation please advise

PS please do not judge me for my choice to put her in a playpen i'm new to TNR it was zipped all the way up and i put it next to the back door. I assumed worst case she would be hiding in the corner of the utility room, like cats have done before, and all i would have to do is open the back door walk away and she would bolt outside. I had NO IDEA there was hole at the top, and she could climb up there.

Obviously i will never ever do this again and i bought proper tools for moving cats in a trap so i can keep them in there, until release, and put pads and food plates.

Tulip wants to be a hunting poodle

This 8.6 lb poodle amazed me, she has every working poodle trait in a teeny body, never fatigue of fetch, soft mouth incapable of chew up anything, loves scent hunting... But so small she's almost a toy 😂.

I groom her myself and this is the first time I tried clean face clean feet and I'm enjoying how poodle-y she looks now. When shaggy Teddy face you can't tell if oodle or poodle but no mistaking a full poodle with clean face.

Have you ever experienced a semi feral TNR cat running away after release?

I wrote another post but I am afraid its too long.

The question i have is, have any of you who are familiar with TNR outside cats, ones that have a stable outside home in a colony, ever experienced a cat running away and disappearing after release back into their environment?

The reason i am asking is i am 95% sure my cat was abducted from her playpen, which was right by the back door next to her stable colony home since birth. She is 1.5 years old the yard is the only home she has known. The morning i went to check on her, her playpen was zipped open, and she was nowhere to be found, not in the house, not in the yard (the back door leads to) which was her stable home from birth for 1.5 years of her life.

I'm asking if any of you have experienced this, a TNR cat running away, as my family thinks its "absurd" to think she was abducted, despite the fact it appeared a human opened her playpen, and she is gone without a trace for 6 days now.

Cat disappear after TNR from playpen. Was she abducted?

I've been trying to help the feral cats in my yard. I have been feeding them for two years but only discovered local resources to help them with TNR recently.

My colony included the matriarch cat Persephone, her three kittens TigerLily Audrey and bandit, another cat hero who was the kitten of another queen who comes in the yard every so often named Felicity. There are 3 core females and all had kittens. I was able to take the kittens, that survived, including bottle raising Audrey litter who she abandoned on day one. There were a total of 7 surviving kittens, 4 of which I adopted out, 3 are living with me now and trying to adopt out.

So there's the back story and I knew I had to spay the girls. I Able to do Audrey and Persephone easily because they are friendly to me. They were released back into the colony.

The last was TigerLily I had to trap train her for two weeks, but I did and was able to take her for her spay Friday.

I put her in a secure pet playpen with litter water food and a bed. I put the playpen in the dining room next to the back door, as the plan was to release her back into the yard on day 2.

When I woke up the playpen was zipped all the way up like a human hand did it. She was nowhere to be found.

It's been 5 days and I haven't seen her anywhere. In my heart I know someone came though the door to take her. I have had people steal kittens from the colony several times before. I keep hoping against hope she escaped through the back door and I'm wrong but I knew she was stolen.

I'm surrounded by very evil criminal people, pretty sure the neighbors on the right are literally organized criminals there's like 8 ppl adults in the house with no lives no job total neglect, no signs of normal life, so I suspect the kind of crime they do is digital computer based organizing based on being holed up in a dilapidated house all day. Legit it's a ton of adults and zero signs of life and total neglect of the place. They only way you know it's not abandoned is every so often a dude looking furious and aggressive slams the door to come and go. No one else. No visitors. No family. My dog was murdered by pitbulls just the month before and pretty sure it was related to these people and the myriad of crimes they are likely involved in as tech organizers.

Yes so telling you about the tech crime dump I live next to, a history of kittens disappearing, and known pitbulls who are aggressive and seem trained to kill animals, to explain why I think abduction is more probable given she's gone.

I keep hoping I'm wrong but it's day 6 and there is no sign of her anywhere.

I'm writing this because I'm trying to explain to my family, yard cats who live in a colony do not "run away". My mother gets it cuz she lives with me and understands the yard colony is their home. She was with me when I went to pick her up she knew I put her in the pen, and she also knows a lot of people here are weird violent and abusive and generally sketchy.

My sisters and brother do not know anything about feral and semi feral cats, and they think it's crazy to assume she could have been taken and just "ran away" as their only experience with animal caretaking is house pets. They do not get the concept she's a semi feral cat who was born in my yard and the yard is her safe zone, if she got out she would be local near the yard. House cats and dogs run away because outside is confusing and their safe zone is the house.

I'm writing this to see if anyone had a similar experience with colony cats being taken by criminals for evil purposes... Or if you ever had a TNR cat run away.

I'm trying to explain to my family that doesn't happen so her disappearing, from her pen by the anticipated release door, and not being found anywhere in the yard for a week almost, is basically certain a person came through the door, took her from her playpen, likely for evil purposes.

I'm heartbroken she's gone. Even though she was a semi feral I helped raised her in my yard from kitten hood, she was my colony cat for 1.5 years. I'm so disgusted they waited till she couldn't run or defend herself trapped in a playpen to take her, in pain from her spay. And I'm also distraught I can't get my family to understand that criminals do want cats for things like pitbull training, and it's impossible for a semi feral raised in a yard to "run away and get lost" if she ran out on her own.

disinfecting after suspected panleukopenia

I have been trying to help the feral cats in my yard. with TNR and rescuing the kittens. Long story short, a litter of 5 became 3, they were quite feral, but at the time i assumed they were somewhat sickly with eye infections, and i was able to scruff them the remaining kittens.

What i thought was simply starvation, eye infections, maybe a mild virus, very quickly i realized it was serious, one of the 3 kittens had huge diarrhea and died a few hours later in the playpen. The other two, had vomit and diarrhea and nearly died. I started antibiotics and syringe fed and the two remaining females made a recovery. One of them is still on clavamox because of pneuomnia which likely was a secondary infection related to both leukopenia and having to syringe feed so she didnt die.

Fortunately i was able to get the kitten i had in my house who was healthy the FVRCP vax and it offered her good protection. She only had the first step, became mildly ill, but nothing serious.

I then, while trying to TNR, trapped a baby kitten who appeared to be about 10 weeks, i was not trying to, but i kept him as i am trying to take the babies, socialize them, adopt them, and spay the ferals. This baby belongs to a different queen in a different but adjacent location. He seemed healthy, even good eyes, good weight, other than a worm belly. The next day massive vomiting, and then just decline over the next 5 days despite giving him sub q fluids, trying to syringe feed. Foolishly i did not start antibiotics for him, which i regret, i am new to this and i am seeing the leukopenia portion of this virus is what kills them just as much if not moreso than the dehydration/malnutrition. Starting it for the others is possibly why they survived. Honestly it wouldnt have helped, his vomiting was so bad, he couldnt keep anything down. I tried to give panacur cuz i speculated the worms were making his viral nausea worse (he vomit a worm, while trying to give him panacur). But it wasnt effective cuz obvs just puking everything up.

Well i learned a lesson, always have antiemetics, always start antibiotics if you suspect panleukopenia, always have subq fluids and tube/syringe feeding supplies and formula. Intervention as soon as the first symptom with these is crucial.

So out of 4 kittens, 2 survived.

They are playing at my feet now with my vaccinated kitten.

Obviously, i dont want to take any more kittens until i thoroughly disinfect the house and everything knowing panleukopenia is extremely hardy in the environment.

I was wondering if anyone has been in this situation - try to help feral kittens they all drop dead cuz likely FPV, and what you did to disinfect, was it safe to bring more kittens after?

So as a backstory here is my original post:

Helping abandoned kittens, advice with diarrhea : r/FosterAnimals

TL;DR if you dont want to read this, i had to take some newborn kittens in my yard, the mom cat who i help just legit abandoned them and they were dying in front of my back door. Despite me trying to get her to nurse them and putting them in a box, she never attended to them and when i went to recheck them they were literally almost dead. Think a frozen kitten at 9pm barely able to move or talk, legit on death door. Born at 6pm.

I am very friendly with the mother cat, so like i said i was helping her while she gave birth, cleaning her, trying to gather the kittens to return them to her, helping her cut the umbilical cord for one of them. She is very friendly to me so my presence wouldnt be a stressor, shes basically my house cat except she hates the house. Yes i want to spay her but i was not able to take her in time. So it was either i take them or let them freeze to death and starve.

So thats what i did.

they are now 17 days old. I lost one at 3 days old but the rest are all the appropriate size for their age and seem to be doing well except diarrhea that started on day 5.

At first this diarrhea was very bright yellow and smelled extreeemely foul. I have no resources, socially i am isolated, i am on a fixed income, but i have some medical education, so essentially what i did was lots of research and basically copied a rescue protocol for kitten diarrhea that involved starting metronidazole at a low dose for GI inflammation, then giving both toltrazuril and panacur to target coccidia, worms, giardia. As well as starting probiotics.

After 4 days of metronidazole and toltrazuril, the foul odor is WAY better, and it no longer has a bright mustard yellow color, now it is more of a mucousy orange yellow color. I consider this a good sign, as the odor was like death before and it suggests things are moving in the right direction, but it still remains unformed.

The kittens all have a great appetite, and are appropriate weight for their age, in that the smallest (he had the worst diarrhea before treatment) is 290g and the largest is 330 grams at 17 days. I just dont know what to do for the diarrhea given i tried like legit everything that would target it, and while the disgusting odor is gone, they still have not had a formed stool.

Is it possible some kittens just have runs? I am pretty sure they did need treatment because that odor was unmistakeable not normal, but now that it is gone and the color has changed they still arent having formed stools. Dont know what else to do at this point but just accept it. Can over feeding cause this?
