[App] Restrict: A simple way to curb phone distractions

[App] Restrict: A simple way to curb phone distractions

A friend of mine kept catching himself opening the same distracting apps without even realizing it.

So he built Restrict.

(He's also the creator of Smart Action Notch, which some of you may have seen here before. Thanks to this community, we're about to hit 25,000 downloads and will be doing a promo code giveaway to celebrate!)

Instead of simply hiding apps or sending reminders, Restrict adds a deliberate pause before you can open the apps you choose, helping interrupt mindless habits and doomscrolling.

Some of its features:

  • Block or delay access to selected apps
  • Reduce impulsive app launches
  • Build healthier screen-time habits without uninstalling your apps

He's actively improving the app and is looking for honest feedback from people who'd actually use something like this.

As a thank you: when Restrict reaches 500 downloads and 25 genuine Play Store reviews, we'll share promo codes for the premium version with the community.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quarkstudio.restrict

If you have a minute to check it out, we'd really appreciate your thoughts. What feature would make an app like this most useful for you?

[App] Glyf : A Fun,Artistic way to open your apps and a LOT more.

Glyf is built around a simple idea.

Instead of looking for an app, draw a symbol.

Every custom symbol becomes a shortcut to something you use every day.

Launch apps, call contacts, open websites, trigger shortcuts, or even chain multiple actions together.

No extra icons.

No clutter.

No searching.

Just one gesture and you're there.

Always looking for ideas on what to add next.

[App] A quick Glyf update: your feedback made a lot of difference ❤️

A few days ago, I posted here giving away Glyf Premium in exchange for honest feedback.

I just wanted to say thank you. Glyf has now crossed 500+ downloads in just 20 days, and a lot of that progress came from the suggestions shared here.

One piece of feedback kept coming up: launching Glyf needed to be faster and more flexible. So that's exactly what I've been working on.

The next update includes:

  • Choose whether tapping the Glyf icon opens the drawing pad or the main app
  • App shortcuts for opening the drawing pad and settings
  • Better launcher integration
  • Gesture complexity analysis when creating gestures
  • Optional per-gesture recognition sensitivity for improved matching

Most of these ideas came directly from discussions in this community.

I'll keep working through the rest of the suggestions over time, but I wanted to tackle the biggest pain points first.

If you've got more suggestions or unusual use cases, I'd genuinely love to hear them. Several features already in Glyf started as Reddit comments.

The update should start rolling out in the next few days.

Thanks again for all the feedback.

Glyf - Draw to Launch Anything

Hi everyone,

I've been working on an Android app called Glyf.

Instead of digging through app drawers, folders, or search bars, Glyf lets you launch apps, websites, shortcuts, and actions simply by drawing a symbol anywhere on your phone.

Examples:

• Draw M → Maps
• Draw S → Spotify
• Draw any custom symbol → Launch almost anything

Recent updates have focused on making Glyf faster to access and easier to integrate with launchers, shortcuts, and automation workflows.

Some highlights:

  • No ads
  • Clean, user-friendly UI
  • Fully customizable gestures
  • Launch apps, websites, shortcuts, and actions
  • One-time premium purchase to support development (No subscription jargon)

I'd love to hear what you'd use it for. Feedback and feature suggestions are always welcome.

Have a nice day.

Glyf: draw anything to launch anything

Hi everyone,

I've been working on an Android app called Glyf.

Instead of searching through your app drawer, opening folders, or remembering where things are, you can simply draw a symbol anywhere and instantly launch:

Apps, Shortcuts, Websites, Actions and Groups of actions

For example:

Draw M → Open Maps

Draw S → Open Spotify

Draw any custom symbol → Launch anything that the app is capable of right now.

Recent feedback from Android power users has been quite useful, so in the next upcoming update I have focused heavily on reducing friction, so accessing the drawing pad is now much faster and integrates better with launchers, shortcuts, and automation workflows.

A few things people seem to appreciate:

No ads

Clean, user-friendly UI

Fully customizable symbols

Works with apps, websites, shortcuts, and actions

Lifetime premium unlock (no subscriptions, just a single purchase and you own it for a millennia or more)

I'd love to hear what power users, launcher enthusiasts, and automation nerds think about it.

[APP] Thanks r/HowToMen - I've got a lot of work to do now 💪

A couple of days ago, I posted here giving away Glyf Premium codes in exchange for honest feedback.

The giveaway is over now, and I wanted to thank everyone who tried the app, left a review, sent a DM, or suggested improvements.

What surprised me most wasn't the number of downloads or reviews - it was how specific and useful the feedback was.

Some of the most requested ideas were:

  • Choosing which browser opens websites (including Incognito mode)
  • Opening files directly with a glyph
  • Allowing Glyf to launch itself for automation workflows
  • Better glyph recognition
  • Additional interface languages
  • A shortcut to open the drawing pad without relying on the widget or notification
  • Customizable and multicolor drawing strokes
  • Better glyph discovery/hint systems

A few of these are already on the roadmap, and some are being worked on right now.

As an independent developer, it's easy to get tunnel vision and assume you know what users want. Posting here was a good reminder that real users find friction points you'd never think about yourself.

Several reviews on Google Play ended up containing feature requests that were honestly better than some of the ideas I had written down.

So thank you to everyone who participated.

If you have more suggestions, unusual use cases, automation ideas, or launcher workflows you'd like Glyf to support, I'd love to hear them.

For anyone who missed the original post, Glyf is an Android app that lets you launch apps, shortcuts, websites, actions, and groups of actions by drawing custom symbols anywhere on your phone.

[App][Promo] Glyf update: Multi-stroke gestures, floating bubble, also thanks for 300+ downloads in 4 days ❤️

A while back, some of you suggested adding multi-stroke gestures to Glyf. I spent some time researching and implementing it, and it's now available in the latest update.

I've also added a floating bubble that lets you launch the drawing area much more quickly, making gesture access feel a lot more natural.

If you're not familiar with Glyf, it's an Android app that lets you launch actions, apps, shortcuts, and more using custom gestures. The goal is to make interacting with your phone faster and more fun.

What's new?

  • Multi-stroke gesture support
  • Floating bubble for quick access
  • You can update glyf instantly directly from settings
  • Ads removed completely from Glyf
  • Ads were also removed from Smart Actions Notch and Shutter

You can check it out here:
