Longevity and what works for me.

Longevity and what works for me.

Okay, how does this setup look? I think I’m finally finding my groove with clusters!

Lash map, outer to inner:
10, 10, 10, 12, 12, 10

Black lashes: GlowVane Winkie
Purple & blue lashes (10s): Heart Beat Faux Mink
Bond & Seal: GlowVane (white)

I’ve been experimenting with different lash brands and bonds/seals, and so far, GlowVane seems to work best for me personally. I found Veyes to be uncomfortable. I did like the UCoolMe bond and seal, but it dried with a really hard feeling. I used it with Veyes lashes, though, so it’s possible the band contributed to that.

Here’s my current application routine:

  1. Clean my natural lashes.
  2. Dry completely with a fan.
  3. Spray a brow spoolie with 70% IPA and brush through my lashes.
  4. Dry again with the fan.
  5. Curl my natural lashes.
  6. Apply bond at the base of my lashes.
  7. Let the bond dry for about 2 minutes.
  8. Put a tiny bit of bond directly on the cluster band, apply just above my waterline, and continue until all clusters are on.

edited to add I wait about 20 seconds before I add to my lash

  1. Once they’re all applied, I pinch the clusters and my natural lashes together with the tool.
  2. Dry with the fan and wait about 10 minutes.
  3. Using the sponge tip of the seal, I lightly apply seal to the clusters from underneath.
  4. Swipe my tool across the seal spoolie to pick up just a little product, then clamp the clusters again.
  5. Dry one final time with the fan.

After showering:
I dry my lashes with the fan, gently pinch/clamp them again with the tool, and then finish drying with the fan.
It may (or may not 😂) seem like a lot of steps, but this is what I’ve found works best for me so far. I’m still really new to clusters and definitely learning as I go, but I feel like I’m finally finding my groove!

I’d love to hear from the cluster veterans: anything you’d change, add, or skip?

2024 Camry LE Wheel Covers

Hi all! I’m super green when it comes to this sort of thing so please forgive me if this is dumb. I have black wheel covers on my tires. I purchased this car used last year so, it came with them on. I recently realized one was missing. I was at the dealer this morning to see about getting it replaced. They said they are after market and not sure where I can get them. The black covers have the Toyota logo in the center. My tires, or the rims (not sure which) are 17”. Any idea of where I can get one, or a set, to replace? I love these look of the black. TIA

Thoughts on Court Wednesday

So what do you think is really going to happen Wednesday?

I feel like she will get probation and fines. I hope they make her check in once a week for a year (I know that’s too excessive and won’t happen), and I hope Rene finally dumps her.

Is Doughlores Ready?

She is about 4 months old. I had her in the fridge for two days after a fresh feeding. After being taken out of the fridge, I did a discard and then added 50g each KA bread flour and water to 29g sourdough starter. The times are in the jar. I fed her at 11:00 am and again without discard at 3:50 with 1:1 30g bread flour and water. This is where she is now. I want to bake a couple loaves tonight but we are going out to dinner for about an hour or two. Being still somewhat new at understanding perfect peak times and bake times. What are your thoughts on this? I typically bake once it hits its peak. If I come home and it’s fallen a bit, can I still bake? Sorry if my terminology is wrong. I’m still learning.

Sourdough Banana Bread

This is my fourth bake with my starter. It was active and ready to go! This came out really yummy! I have been using recipes from The Clever Carrot. Her recipes seem pretty easy for beginners. The crust on this is so good! Nice crunch!

The recipe is in the pictures.

7.5 Days in Fridge

Hi all! My starters were in the fridge for 7 and a half days. I took them out and they look good (no liquid or separation or discoloration). I’m going to wait about two hours to feed them. Does that sound right? Will I be able to bake with them if they double and bubble within the 4 hours today? I have many starters because I had so much and didn’t discard everything. I am going to attempt baguettes and a loaf in my Pullman pan. I may be doing too much but I’m here for it!

Second Loaf and First Bagels

Hi all! This is my second loaf. I’m fairly certain my starter is either not active enough, although it’s bubbly or, it’s not fermenting enough. I’m still not going to give up!! The bread is much denser than my first loaf. The bagels…oh my gosh!!$ they came out so delicious! Chewy. Crispy top. Sour. Just, perfect!!

Sourdough
Bread
150g Active Starter
250g Warm Water
25g Olive Oil
500g KA Bread Flour
10g Fine Sea Salt

Bagels
150g Active Starter
250g Warm Water
24g Granulated Sugar
500g KA Bread Flour
9g Fine Sea Salt

FOD: BC & CC

Inspired by Majestic Fuel’s post, I mixed Blue Crush and Cotton Candy 1:1 ration. So good!!!!

First Loaf

I’m fairly certain this is underfermented, but I wanted to share. We ended up tasting it and it’s pretty good. Definitely more dense than it’s should be. It does have some bounce to it! It’s not quite as sour but that’s because. Didn’t do the proofing right.

Recipe:

500g KA Bread Flour
350ml Water
140g Starter (Doughlores)
10g Table Salt

I mixed the starter with water and then added it to the flour and made the dough. Then I let it rest for 30 minutes. And then added salt.

Did the first fermentation and folded and pulled every 30 minutes for 2 hours. I put it in the fridge overnight and took it out this morning, and baked.

My starter has s established however I do believe the proofing (fermentation?) was underdone.

First Loaf

Finally got up the courage to try this after years of wanting to and being intimidated. We are having company tonight so I’ll cut it later but it seems ok thus far.

What do yall think, kindly, please? I know it doesn’t look the greatest! I’ve included lots of pictures that you probably don’t care to see. lol

First time Sourdough Bread Maker

Hi! My starter is well-established. I’ve made sourdough pancakes with her but that’s it. Just once.

I never discard when I feed her, I made them with the discard that one time. Does this look good to attempt my first loaf? I was also thinking of trying some bagels. And then keeping the rest ti keep feeding.

I’m super new so please be kind. Thank you!!

ETA: I feed her daily 50 grams water and 50 grams bread flour. I keep her on the counter. I was gone for 5 days and kept her in the fridge and fed her when I came back.

Hear me out…

***EDITED TO REQUEST DISCONTINUE REPLIES. PEOPLE DON’T KNOW HOW TO HAVE DISCUSSIONS WITHOUT BEING ACCUSATORY***

I was thinking about how certain foods and scents (cilantro and ambroxan) tastes like soap it can’t be smelled and asked Google a question about beverages and medicinal tastes. I’ve seen a lot of people say their Alani tastes like medicine. I wonder if there is something to it.

Just a thought.

FOD: Purple Cotton Candy

Found in Five Below in Wesley Chapel in Tampa.

I really like this flavor. It isn’t too sweet, not like the regular CC. On initial sip, I get cotton candy, then comes the grape and, to me, the finish is like the Grape Nerds! Soooo good!!!!

I am so glad airports are starting to carry Alani. I’ve only seen them in PHX and today CLT. This is making the second leg of my flight home so nice!!! It’s the little things.
