hey guys so im planning my college timeline and need some advice. basically i will be giving jee advanced in mid 2028 and if i get into iit i plan to join the campus in july/august.
but my dream is actually mit so i want to apply there in november 2028 for the freshman cycle (fall 2029 entry). my plan is to basically stay at iit for just one semester/year and then leave if i get into mit.
but im confused about the freshman vs transfer rules. if im already taking classes at iit in august will mit force me to apply as a transfer student? because i know transfer acceptance rates are basically impossible. or can i still apply as a first year applicant since i wont have finished a full year yet?
also my 9th and 10th grades were pretty bad (70% and 82%) but im working on a massive upward trend for 11th and 12th plus aiming for a high sat score and also building ecs. if anyone has done this or knows the exact rules please help out
