Do you use the expression 'my love' for your spouse?

I've seen this expression a lot in American novels, but on YouTube and places like that, couples use "Honey," "Darling," or "Baby," so I don't think I've ever seen them call each other "My Love." Do you use it often in everyday life?

Aren't teachers public officials in America?

Of course, I know that it is managed by the state, but is it different from national civil servants? In my country, you can only become a teacher by graduating from a college of education or a university of education and passing the national teacher certification exam. Since each provincial or city government usually hires only one or two people, the competition is very fierce. Teachers must transfer to a different school every four years, and they are not fired unless they commit serious crimes such as leaking exam papers or sexually harassing a student. What is it like in America?

What time do people get off work in America?

Of course, it probably varies by job, but I am curious about what time civil servants or office workers usually get off work. My father is a civil servant; he goes to work at 6 a.m. and gets off at 7 p.m. Sometimes he comes home at 9 p.m. if he works overtime.

Do you drive when traveling long distances?

I am curious whether you travel long distances by car, refueling along the way, or by train or plane when traveling across two states.

Do you have enough time to brush your teeth after lunch?

I am not sure about workplaces in the U.S., but I understand that lunch breaks at American schools are 45 minutes long. However, since it takes at least 20 minutes to eat lunch, wouldn't that be tight if you try to finish eating and then play as well? Furthermore, it seems like it would take quite a while for all the students to brush their teeth in the restroom or at the sink after lunch.I used a translator so it might sound a bit confrontational, but I'm asking because I'm genuinely curious.

Are there any American genre fiction websites?

I know that ao3 exists and is a very large site. I read fanfiction there every day, and I am curious if there are any genre fiction serialization sites with a similar system. I have read a lot of novels on Chinese and Korean web novel sites, but I would like to try reading American ones as well.

Can American high school students sleep during class?

I attend a regular public high school in Korea, and honestly, the school rules here are quite lax, so students sleep during class. For example, all second-year students currently take Calculus as a common course, but since many have already finished preparing for it at cram school, they decide they don't need to take it and just sleep with their heads down on their desks during that time. It's not just dozing off; they're sleeping face down completely. In extreme cases, there are instances where 27 out of 30 students are sleeping. They decide it is better to sleep during that time and focus on other important school subjects or cram school studies after class. What is it like in the U.S.? Do students sleep during class there as well?

Do American schools do a lot of hands-on experiments in science classes?

I attend a high school in Korea, and honestly, we are so busy rushing through the curriculum to prepare for exams that we just do theory classes and memorize what we learn. I take Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, but I haven't done a single experiment since I started high school. I did a little in middle school, but I haven't done one last year or this year. For us, we just study textbooks and worksheets, memorize, solve a lot of difficult problems, and get good scores—that’s it. I am in my second year; I never did an experiment in my first year, and I don't do so now, nor will I in the future. Since I have to take the CSAT in my third year, the likelihood of doing one will be even lower. I saw on YouTube that teachers and students do a lot of experiments, and it was really fascinating and I was so envious! I wish we could just ditch rote memorization and problem-solving too.

How lively are downtown areas in the U.S. during Christmas?

When I was young, I loved seeing the New York streets during the Christmas season in Home Alone 2 because they looked so pretty and colorful! The fancy Christmas trees left a lasting impression on me. Do busy streets actually get decorated nicely and giant Christmas trees set up in real life? I really liked the Christmas atmosphere on the streets in that movie.

Why is Farad'n a Prince?

I'm asking this question because I got curious while reading Children of Dune. At the Battle of Arakin, Fol defeated Shaddam IV, married Irulan, and became Emperor, right? Farad'n was born after that. Since Shaddam was no longer Emperor at that time, shouldn't Farad'n not be a prince either? I understand that Shaddam's daughters are still princesses, but I don't understand how Farad'n became a prince.

Are sports or club activities very important to American students?

Hello. I heard in last post that American students have various clubs. I am curious whether sports subjects or club activities count towards students' grades in American high schools. In Korean high schools, boys really enjoy and are passionate about PE, but girls find it a real hassle; when teachers give them free time, they just sit around chatting. They feel that expending energy on PE interferes with their studies, and it isn't important for college admissions anyway. We are required to participate in club activities during the 5th and 6th periods on Wednesdays, but honestly, it isn't fun because it's more about getting into college than actually being a part of the activity. I can't even imagine a drama club existing in Korea!

How can I make American friends online?

Hello, I live in a non-English speaking country. I want to make American friends, but there were too many strange people on language exchange apps. Is there any other way to make American friends online? Once I get close to them, I would like to talk to them via video calls.

What is the routine of American students at school, and do they go straight home after school?

In Korea, it varies depending on whether it is a public or private school, but at public schools, students arrive by 8:30. The schedule is as follows: 1st period: 8:40–9:30, 2nd period: 9:40–10:30, 3rd period: 10:40–11:30, 4th period: 11:40–12:30, Lunch time: 12:30–1:40, 5th period: 1:40–2:30, 6th period: 2:40–3:30, 7th period: 3:40–4:30. And if we also go to an academy (of course, not all students attend), we finish at 10pm. Do they finish earlier in the U.S.? What do they do after that?
