Milled Yugo
Is anyone making a fixed stock milled Yugo that doesn't have half the owners manual etched into the receiver? I prefer my ak receivers to not be a wall of advertising and warnings. I prefer them clean like the one pictured.

Picked up a replacement for a bubbafied wasr stock and it almost mounted straight. Took a little fitting on the stock tang and redrilling the holes but not bad.
Does anyone have a plum b5 grip mounted up? Going to buy one if the color is right, if not I'll probably go green. Love their grips.
Put this together for bumming around my wood lot. Went up today to change a trail camera battery and grabbed this pic. I see it as a modern day trapper carbine. I get a decent amount of bear crossing my land and they even pop boards off the camp from time to time so I'd rather be prepared than not.

So after having to use way too much crimp to keep from getting bullet setback from chambering rounds in a AK I went back to the bench this morning and took some measurements.
My expander ball diameter was .3095 which gave me a inner case neck diameter .308. Im using .311 bullets so thats a neck tension of .003 and I can push a bullet loaded in a dummy round right through the neck by pushing it against my bench.
Removed the expander ball and polished it down till it is at .307 diameter which gives me a inner case neck diameter of .306 after brass spring back. Thats .005 neck tension with the .311 bullets. Now I can lean on a dummy round against the bench and the bullet only moved a .0015. Im going to call it good and send the FCD to the same scrap bucket that the last one did.
Getting my 7.62x39 loads where I want them and turns out I've got to use a bit more crimp than I'm used to. New to the Lee FCD and my initial crimp was what I'd consider medium and i was getting bullet set back with .003 neck tension. Just bumped the crimp up to what is shown in the picture whichis almost all i can get out of the die.. Just curious to what other people are doing to keep bullets in place while running through a AK.
I'm almost to the point of using a 32kg for presses and am starting to window shop. My 28kg is a traditional style powder coated that came from Amazon and I'm just curious if there is a better option. I've got no problem getting another of the Amazon brand and I want to stick with the traditional style just checking options before I make the purchase. Picture is of my 28. Any advise is definitely welcome.
Anybody else enjoy a good round of primer pocket uniforming?
Processing some mixed 7.62x39 range brass. Guessing the ring of material at the case head is from this brass being fired in a oversized chamber. Just wanted to verify with people who have experience with the caliber before I start looking for problems with my die. This only happens with a small percentage of the brass. I'm using Hornady dies.
With the crazy prices of loaded 7.62x39 I'm looking into loading for it. Once fired brass looks easy to source and I've got a decent supply of Reloader 7. Just look to feed a couple AKs and ring steel at the range.
Questions are:
Is it worth sorting by headstamp?
What inexpensive projectiles are people using with decent accuracy? FMJ?
Does Reloader 7 perform as well as a quick Google search would lead me to believe?
Any information and experience would be greatly appreciated.
Was rummaging through some old gear and found this old mag I forgot I had. I've never been able to identify it. Any of you fine people have any idea on its age or origin?
My old WASR 10/63 has been sulking in a corner wearing a set of Magpul MOE furniture for a couple years now getting absolutely no attention.
Well I couldn't take it anymore so I started digging to my bin of AK stuff and I think I came up with a better setup by far. Luckily I had the "Nato" length stock from my SGL21. The extra stock length really helps with eye relief. Thankfully I had everything on hand except the scope rings which arrived today. I think it'll be getting more attention set up like this.
Been tinkering on this thing for 15 years give or take and it appears to be done.... for now.
Mini Draco
Romanian 4 piece I got from Kvar years ago.
Handguard is parts of two Midwest Industries rails. Half a Mini Draco rail and half a standard AK rail.
TWS Dogleg, just added that. Had to open up the Ejection port as it was causing jams.
Holosun ARO
Midwest Industries side folding brace.
B5 grip
This thing is far more accurate than it has any right to be.
Using up some oddball components and rolled up a few of these. 255gr X-Treme at I'm guess 775 ish fps. Love shooting heavy 45 Auto.
Did another kettlebell mile this morning. Bumped the weight up this time. I had been walking with a 20kg and just stepped up to a 24kg. Oddly the weight went up but the time went down. Did the mile today in 17:53 and a good 30 seconds of that was my neighbor who's in his 80s picking on me as soon as I crossed the street lol. The 25 kg seems like a really good weight for me to do the mile with, got my heart rate up and broke a bit of a sweat. Great way to start the day!
My neighborhood is on a one mile around block and I just started carrying a kettlebell around the mile. It was intimidating the first time and I joked about bringing a bike cable lock with me so I could lock the bell up incase I couldn't finish the loop. Luckily that wasn't a problem and yesterday I timed myself. 17min 51sec for a mile carrying a 20kg kettlebell without setting it down or stopping and I'm pretty happy with the time. I really enjoy that exercise a couple times a week and think everyone should try, its not as bad as it sounds!
I think I've had these for about eight years and a half a tub of Obenauf's. They've been my daily footwear for that entire time and are just now getting downgraded to yard work because I got one of the last pairs of 2233s straight from Redwing since that model has been replaced by a slightly different version. Figured I'd post a before and after of how well they clean up with the Obenauf's.
I've been tinkering on a AR45 for a couple months now and although I've got it feeding well the accuracy is awful. The current barrel is a KAK and I'm very much not impressed. I'm not looking for absolute precision but seems like 2 inches at 25 yards shouldn't be too much to ask for. The current KAK barrel often puts out groups measured in feet.....
As the title says they have some for the moment.
I've read several times that there are LRBHO lowers that need to have lighter bolt catch springs for the LRBHO function to work correctly. I've got most of the parts to assemble a non LRBHO upper so I'm half in the market for a lower with the lever but not leverage issues requiring a lighter catch spring. Any information would be appreciated.
