How safe is it for a new apprentice during recessionary periods?
Hey hopeful to be a new apprentice, I know it’s hard to say, but on the bleak news constantly being said on the economy how safe is it for new apprentices looking for work in NYC?

Hi I been living in smyrna about 3 years now was wondering if anyone knows of any small business owner meetings or networking events in the area?
I’m 33 years old with a 2 year old son and wife. I currently have a trucking company operating in Atlanta, Georgia. It’s pretty small and it’s been slow for the past year and half. It consists of long hours to keep equipment going and high stress between dealing with customers, drivers and breakdowns. The main reason I’m here is cause I currently have an opportunity to possibly start as an apprentice with local 30 in NYC. I got the application, I did the aptitude test, I got the interview coming up next. I know in the long run the local 30 is way better it’s just getting through the first few years of the struggle to the higher pay. If this was just me it’s a no brainer, what makes me nervous is putting my wife and son through those years before hitting a point to being able to provide for us comfortably. Most of my family lives in New York, I’m also originally from there moved to Atlanta 8 years ago. My wife doesn’t want to leave cause her parents are older and scared something will happen to them, plus leaving a life we built to start over a new I think terrifies her also. Any sort of guidance is appreciated.
Hi I’m currently a local truck driver in the Atlanta area, but I have a 2 year degree in HVAC I have my EPA 608. I been talking to a friend of mine in New York and he says they making like 250k with overtime and it take like 4 to 5 years to get to that point. I’m just wondering if the trades in Atlanta to get you to that point with out ownership? And if so what’s the best way to get started?
