looking for books like heretic Spellblade. specifically in the military aspect

having just finished the epilog i find my self wanting more series with well an actual war. Its not just the mc showing up and do it all himself. if you have read the books the battle for the empires capital comes to mind. but also how the siege battles play out, solders actually feel relevant so do the politics and spy espionage. I have read the rest of Roberson work and was hoping to find some new authors.

Heretic spell Blade epilogue doesn’t feel like the ending.

So I’m an audiobook exclusive person essentially at this point so I just finished heretic spell blade yesterday. That epilogue did not feel like an ending at all. It felt like the first step in another series still, a lot of mysteries and questions left on, answered and even potential hinting at where the series could go in reclaiming lost territory for the living civilizations. I’m very happy with it and I loved reading it. It just didn’t feel like the end of the series. Does anyone else feel that way?

so i recently read live free or die by john ringo.....how did no one mention how racist this man is...

I heard nothing but good things online about this and i was in more of an space opera\ fleet military story. I am primarily an audio book person so i cant give page numbers. The book stars of solid with some neat ideas but i noticed a conservative leaning as the book goes on manly comments on the wars in the middle east the book was written in 2010. these only popped up from time to time. the is also a heavy play up on country vs city. But as the has relevance to the aliens in orbit I thought the author and the charters where playing it up so the citys would not get destroyed. I was wrong but then i got to chapter SAPL 11 which would be chapter 18 in a normal system. And I get hit with the incredible line "being Black and female is a benefit in any government position. But that wasn't why she got the job." This was in reference to a doctor at the CDC......... It gets worse in the same chapter we are learning about a plague the alien's are spreading. The symptoms are pretty harmless you get a pimple on your left wrist it pops after a day with no pain starts to fade almost immediately and if you don't treat it then your dead . So not something most people worry to much about. The president of the USA who is implied to be a democrat through the book, in a meeting before he and the CDC make an official announcement talk about casualties are rising already amongst minority's and there children. The fucking Presidents cabinet then argues, that this is proof that minority's don't love there children.... The President then talks about taking the kids away from there family's. After all of this then tells the public what is happening and how to treat it. There other examples through the book but these felt the most aggreges.

looking for authors similar to Mike Truk

i recently finished the third book of rise of the shadow rouge. I find my self absolutely loving both the darker tone of the series and how it feels like there are truly real stakes. This book had me genuinely stressed over what might happen in a way few in this genre have managed to do. The character writing is well done with incredible fighting, excellent politics and plotting. The problem being the author seems to have completely dropped this pen name and is working under another but will not say. Leaving some of his series incomplete i don't know if shadow rouge is one of those. so I'm hoping to find similar reads The closest i have found is The Last Emperor: By Maxime J. Durand. It manages t achieve a lot of what i listed above
