Why are some managers so stingy with leave?

I work for a US-based MNC and regularly collaborate with teams in the US. One thing I’ve consistently noticed is the huge difference in work culture between many US teams and Indian teams within the same company.

The US teams seem comfortable taking holidays whenever needed. Their managers give them the space to ask openly, and nobody behaves like it’s a major issue.

But in many Indian teams, even asking for leave feels stressful. Sometimes the reaction, tone, or attitude from managers itself makes employees uncomfortable asking. Managers react like we are asking their property .

I honestly feel that many local managers try too hard to prove that their teams can deliver faster, cheaper, and with fewer people. Even when global leadership may be willing to provide more budget, more hiring, or more realistic timelines, some managers still push employees harder just to show “we can do more with less.”

It often feels like they want recognition, appreciation, and visibility from higher management, and the pressure for that falls entirely on freshers and junior employees.

I’m not saying all Indian managers are like this, but some are .

What's your opinion on this?

CSK won, but it doesn't feel like a win to me.

I know we chased 200+ after 6–7 years, but honestly I still don’t feel convinced by this win. It felt like we almost managed to choke a game that should’ve been finished comfortably.

Urvil’s innings completely changed the game. After that kind of start, we should’ve wrapped it up with at least 12–18 balls to spare. Instead, the middle overs became slow and tense for no reason.

For me, the main problem was the mindset in the middle. Once Urvil was out, Ruturaj should've just anchored while telling Karthik to keep attacking every ball. Even if 1-2 wickets had fallen, those extra boundaries and sixes could've easily brought another quick 20-30 runs. After that, the remaining batters could've stabilized anyway.

What really got to me was how they didn't finish the game once they were comfortable. Other teams in the same spot usually try to seal the win by the 17th or 18th over. But with CSK, it always feels like they needlessly drag matches out till the very end, even when they're ahead.

Yes, we won. But honestly, I came out of that game more irritated than satisfied. Anyone else felt the same?

I’ve been seeing this girl at my gym for about 6 months. We started talking recently and she asked me out. I asked if it was a date, she said “maybe,” and we went ahead.

We went out movie, walk, overall good vibe. She said I tick a lot of her boxes but doesn’t want to rush, which was cool.

But one thing during the date bothered me.

She’s from Mumbai (Hindi-speaking), I’m Tamil, and we’re in a South Indian city. She knows I don’t understand Hindi, but she kept switching to it during conversations. At times I was just sitting there not understanding anything. When I mentioned it, she said I should learn Hindi since she connects better in it .

I didn’t react at that moment, but it honestly didn’t sit right with me. Even I’m adjusting by speaking in English, though I’m naturally more comfortable in Tamil.

Maybe later stage, I would’ve learned Hindi on my own to connect with her better or even impress her. But right now, it feels a bit forced, also she is in south currently and that’s what made it feel like a possible red flag to me.

Apart from this, she was genuinely nice and I enjoyed spending time with her.

Now I’m honestly confused about how to handle this situation.

Honestly guys, I’m tamil and from Bengaluru and a big fan of Vijay. But politics-wise, I wasn’t fully convinced. After the Karur issue, I felt he didn’t take proper accountability, so I was a bit double-minded.

I never expected him to reach CM level this soon. I thought maybe 30–40 seats max. But what’s happening now is honestly shocking even people here in Bengaluru are surprised.

At the same time, maybe people genuinely wanted change. Many are criticizing people who voted for TVK, but looking at DMK, I think they were not good as well. I recently visited Perungudi and Sholinganallur; roads were really bad, water issues, and women’s safety concerns are also there with incidents happening lately.

So maybe people didn’t see a strong alternative and just went for change.

Now I’m wondering… if DMK and AIADMK align, forming a government will be possible right? Will that actually happen?

I was super excited for Kara, mainly because I loved Por Thozhil easily one of my favorite thrillers. I even recommended it to non-Tamil friends.

So I convinced my Kannada doli to come along, gave full hype, and this was her first Tamil movie in a theater.

First half is the same old “idly kadai” setup — why stay with father, why stay in village, all that repeated messaging. Then obviously the father death track, followed by an emotional angle that's so cliched and boring .

Second half is him randomly robbing without any plan, police are complete dummies, and Dhanush just does whatever he wants and gets away with it.

Honestly, doesn’t feel like it’s from the same space as Por Thozhil. Feels like Dhanush has kept his hand .

End of it, my friend roasted me for bringing her. Plus heavy rain we got drenched. She literally said she’s never coming to any movie I suggest again .

Dai… Dhanush 😭

Please save middle-class + father sentiment stories from Dhanush .
