Budget Concerns Already

For the past several years, our school has paid the teachers a half day extra for classroom setup. Just got word it’s not happening this year due to budget…

Anybody else already affected by reduced budgets?

Successful Calculus Teachers: what are you doing?!

I’ve been teaching AP Calculus at a small rural high school for the past couple years, and our school has only produced a couple of students that passed the AP exam in the past decade.

There are obviously many factors that affect academic success, but I want to hear from you about a couple basic ones:

Curriculum: physical book or digital platform? Or something else entirely?

Homework: on paper or online? Weekly, daily or never? How many problems or how many hours?

Grading: how do you weight tests vs homework?

Any advice you can provide is very appreciated, either on these topics or others. (Since it’s a small district, I make all the decisions for my classes, and it can be quite a burden trying to figure this out on my own.)

Edit: And just for background, I use AP classroom frequently, I know the content well (got a 5 on the exam myself back in the day), I have a good relationship with my students, and I did AP Reading this summer for the first time. I just find my students aren’t synthesizing/conceptualizing the information well, and I wonder if I need to apply more academic pressure.

Next Adventure after Dragons of Stormwreck Isle

I stepped away from D&D about 6 years ago, but I’ve found my way back recently! Happily DMing Dragons of Stormwreck Isle now for my kids!

I’m looking for suggestions on what published adventure you would recommend next? I like using D&D Beyond, if that matters.

(And yes, I like the published stuff. I wish I had the mental energy to write my own adventures though!)

EDIT: I have run Lost Mines of Phandelver and Curse of Strahd before.

[MC] Minish Cap for the first time. D Tier?

Ok so I’m playing Minish Cap for the first time (only have a couple Zelda’s left), and I’m a couple elements in, and I’m just feeling kinda mad at it.

Like for example, why give me access to Hyrule Town if half the buildings aren’t open yet? Why did I have to climb Mt. Crenel just to learn I need to go back down to the base again to get the mineral water, to bring back up? And why Vaati? And why is the hat so bird like?

Tell me it will get better lol
