Aliexpress and AYN shipping difference

I swear June 1st was a special day for AYN. I’ve heard many people that ordered on June 1st are getting their Thors pretttty quick. I ordered a black 512 on June 7th from Ali and (as expected) I haven’t received any updates whatsoever. Just a little confused on the Aliexpress end.

As i said, I don’t expect it to come to me in the blink of an eye and hell, i haven’t even passed the one month line, but i’ve encountered a couple people who are confused on the Aliexpress orders as well.

If anyone has any info on the June 1st-10th sale, lmk!!!

AYN TR finally arrived!!!

AYN (info@ayn.hk), was so ignorant (awesome) that they only sent me the front and back plates (which I intentionally ordered for customization later) and didn’t even send me the actual Thor. (Still a happy runner up for delivery)

Thank you, AYN. <3

Presenting the AYN TR.

For context, AYN customer service is great. I ordered these extra parts to put on a black thor to make it look pretty. They delivered in about ~2 weeks.

A plan to be comfortable with??

I want a well structured plan. All of this info and all of these plans are hypothetical, but I would like to pursue something that makes me happy in the end of the day. My goal in life is to be happy.

To start off, I'm in high school. I go to a vocational computer networking and security class. It is based around IT and networking, with either co-op or cybersecurity in your senior year. I started this program as early as i could and finished 10th grade with two CompTIA certs in software and hardware. My plan is to graduate high school and move to a coastal town for college (college of Charleston), while also keeping a long distance relationship in mind. Our plan is to get into the same college, (not guaranteed in any means), and stay together in this coastal city until we graduate.

I want my path to be open to a well paying job that can sustain a comfortable life. What i think most people don't prioritize enough is the genuine art of being happy without letting it consume them. At one point or another, you will listen to someone tell you that your life will be hard when you grow up. I believe that you should find what you love early instead of hustling your high school years, just to make purchases you regret.

I believe that if you want a high paying job to live a comfortable life, you will live every day in an uncomfortable job, which is where your backup comes in. I live in Pennsylvania, which offers quite literally nothing except a city and a couple ponds here and there. Once i get home from a hard day at work, i want to come home and be happy with my life. I want to be near an ocean, come home to a wife, and learn how to surf with a couple friends. I want a structured plan that can bring me to success, while also numbing down the burden of a high pay/stress job.

I want to have multiple means of input, so i thought to post this on reddit.

Advice is much appreciated!!!

Shell changing

Honestly just an extra cosmetic question while i wait for the Thor. If anyone else has some customization tips, lmk!!! I love to see creative looking Thors.

I’ve recently watched a youtube video about the Thor, and the youtuber mentioned someone who changed the outside shell of their white AYN thor to a replacement black shell.

They mentioned having to communicate to AYN, claiming that they needed a replacement. I think that the idea was pretty awesome, making the Thor look like an oreo. Has anyone actually replaced the shells on their Thor?

AYN Thor Lite worth the money?

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but I keep running into roadblocks.

I had a red 3DS Lite when I was younger. I loved it. The clamshell design felt solid, it was easy to carry, and the games were simple and fun. A lot of my gaming memories come from that system.

Since then I’ve moved through PC, Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. My taste in games has expanded a lot, but now I keep coming back to the idea of having something portable again. Something I can pick up and take anywhere without needing to sit at a desk.

I’m into horror games a lot, but being stuck playing them only on a desktop PC feels limiting. I want that same experience in a handheld form.

Some games I’m thinking about:
Fears to Fathom
Older Resident Evil games
Older Silent Hill games
Other older PC or console horror titles

I first looked at the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 and thought it might be the answer. Then I found the AYN Thor Lite and started comparing the two.

Now I feel stuck in research loops. One video says one thing, another says something different, and performance varies depending on settings, emulator, and game. It’s hard to get a clear picture of what I would actually be able to play smoothly.

Before I spend money, I want to understand what these devices realistically handle. I am not looking for perfect performance, just a stable experience for the kinds of games I listed.

If anyone here has used either device, what has your experience been like with horror games and heavier emulation? Is there a clear winner between the two, or is there a better option in the same price range that I should look at instead?

Wondering if this is repairable

Just soldered the picofly in this morning and it worked perfectly fine. I took it home to install some software, but it wouldn’t power on. The mod chip would light up, but i would hear some squealing sounds and get heat from the cpu. i tried loading the stock OS, but that didn’t power on either. Theres some black residue on sp1, and i assumed it was blown.
