Planar vocal chord audio generator

Hi,

This invention entails a double curved sinusoidal membrane which moves in-plane in the x axis (left to right in schema)

A washi (2gsm) paper epoxy laminate with a targeted weight of < 0.5 gr including around 50 winding in square formation of 44awg wire (around 0.05mm ) . The edges containing in-laminate copper go through a ~ 1mm neodymium gap with a strong field.

It is suspended on a 3d printed trapezoid compliant mechanism similar to the shown image on the right. A 0.4 or 0.2 nozzle will be used to create arced lines that have very little bending friction.

The expectations are that it will sound weird. What I’m hoping for is that some range of the full spectrum is audible. I have designed part of the mold to pre press the humid washi paper. And then brush heated epoxy on is the thinnest way possible.

The membrane is similar to a vocal cord but vibrates coplanar while the curves will move the air.

Open TL with Markaudio MAOP 11MS

Hellooooo

I have a build coming up, and wanted to show.

Since my ceramic audio adventure I started working in a robot arm 3d print factory in Amsterdam.

I found a model from Markaudio and was interested, a full range 11MS MAOP driver. I hacked together this design yesterday and this morning basing the design on that driver.

The floor stand support isn’t finished yet.

Some numbers: nozzle 0.8mm , pla (~9kg), total height 75cm, TL length ~2m , exit shape is not simulated, inner diameter ~95mm

I design and build on gut feeling, informed by theory. It is exiting to hear what it sounds like when it’s done and to learn from it. More than using a simulation software (my own opinion)

Have a great day and go easy!! 😉
