The joy of accepting a good paper for publication

I’m at a UK institution, in the humanities. I have just now read and instantly accepted a really interesting, well-written, genuine contribution to an academic debate.

I know some reviewers feel like they have to find something wrong with every submission but it feels so good to hit the accept button!

HMRC write 20 years after …

Today I received a letter from HMRC, it used my previous name. It was about tax credits. The pages explained that I was due £500ish back in 2006/7 and the I was paid it and am owed £0.00.

First what a ridiculous waste of time and money. Second they included a questionnaire for me to report any changes! I haven’t received tax credits since I don’t know when. The time is a bit menacing suggesting I’m may owe them money! I haven’t tried to get money

I can’t think how I’m meant to remember my hours per week 20 years ago or why they’d be sending this now. Is it a weird glitch? I looked very carefully in case it was an attempt to defraud me. I don’t think so.
