Beginners please read before going on an ambitious distance run!

This post is specifically to the people visiting for the first times, or those just starting to build distance. Do NOT go too far like I did! Listen to your body, and adjust accordingly. I am also just getting into it, training for a half marathon in October. Today I tried something stupid, which was to go for an entire half marathon. I don't know why I thought this was a good idea. Ended up hardly being able to walk at mile 11, my left soleus had completely given out and I still can't lift my foot without pain a few hours later. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! EASE INTO IT! DON'T RUN A HALF MARATHON A WEEK AFTER STARTING RUNNING!

Update: Whirring Noise

This sound is caused by the timing cover rubbing on the top timing pulley. This contact was caused by a failed left side motor mount, dropping the engine.

This sound happened during a drive

I was just driving at about 20mph and this horrible whirring sound started suddenly. Pulled off and shut the car off immediately. Any ideas?

3rd day in!

I'll start by saying right now that this was too much for a third run. I was aiming for a zone 2 type of run, aiming for high 10s-mid11s pace. I was able to hold a conversation with my mom on the phone the whole time, so that's a good sign. Feet started to go numb around mile 5 and I caught a few unexpected sidewalk/road closures which lengthened my run 1.2 miles longer than the 10k I was going for. Post-run, after my shower, the muscles around my achilles completely failed me and took ice packs and an hour of rest to get me back and ready to be on the floor as a CNA. I'm very happy with this run and today I'm going to go for a mile- speed focused!

2nd day in!

Hey everyone! The first picture was yesterday, which was my first run where I've just "gone on a run". Sometime's I'll jog 2 miles to and from the gym, but this is my first run to start running as a hobby. For reference, I am 18M with a moderately athletic background, but most of my exercise is weightlifting. Back to the running, I got a horrible side stitch on the first day around mile 2.5 where I had to walk for a little bit before coming back for the final stretch. The second picture was from today, where I set myself a goal to keep my average under 9 minutes/mile, which I crushed at 8:27! I'm not sure what to do next, so I'm wondering what you all focus on when going on runs to improve! I struggle with side stitching a lot, so if you have tips for that then please share! Also, if you have a nice routine for 5k and 10k runs, that would be great!

Hike/Trail suggestions?

Hey everyone! I'm going to be backpacking Glacier for 5 days during late July, coming in on the Amtrak into West Glacier. I'll start from Apgar and probably go on the east side of Lake MacDonald for the first day, hoping to end up at the Avalanche Campground around noon. From there, where should I go out and see? I'll get a backcountry permit so I can set up camp along the way, but the biggest criteria is that I must be able to make it back to the train station the morning on the 6th day. Here's the draw up:

Day 0 (7/25): Arrive at West Glacier at 9:30pm, Walk to Apgar and set up camp and get to bed as soon as possible.
Day 1 (7/26): Wake up at around 7:30, pack up, and head to avalanche campground to hopefully make it there at 1pm. This is where I'm asking for help from now on, I'll either stay at camp for the day or go to Avalanche Lake for a bit and camp there.
Day 2 (7/27): Open
Day 3: (7/28): Open
Day 4: (7/29): Open
Day 5: (7/30): Open, end in Apgar
Day 6: (7:31): Get to West Glacier Station at 7am, leave at 8am

Also open to tips and other things to see! Thank you!
