Roast my itinerary

First time visiting Italy. I’m a dual citizen but currently only speak English. Primary goal of this trip is to see my father’s house in Bagni di Lucca.

Is my itinerary too aggressive?

Day 1 - arrive in Rome around 9 am. Train to Florence and spend night there

Day 2 - Florence

Days 3/4 - Bagni di Lucca

Day 5 -travel back to Rome

Day 6 - early morning flight from FCO

[IL] Likelihood of moving from 50/50 parenting time

Original 50/50 order has been in place for 6 years. Coparent is frequently forfeiting parenting time, but attorney says that won’t work to modify schedule since it’s always different days of the week forfeited and the GAL doesn’t want to eliminate opportunities for coparent to exercise time even if it’s not always taken. Since the order was entered, monthly averages for coparent have ranged from 25 to 55 percent of overnights.

There are a slew of other problems as well, such as documented failure to administer daily medication for a chronic health issue, a move 25 minutes away, refusal to communicate child related information with coparent who has the kids most of the time, and currently inability to drive due to coparent’s license suspension after DUI. GAL says parents are allowed to be alcoholics as long as no legal incidents during parenting time (DUI did not include children). Lawyer says nothing life threatening has happened yet, so medication issues not taken seriously. Lawyer also said that modifying parenting time based on parental responsibility issues usually doesn’t work.

This is an uphill battle lawyer is not being forthcoming with. Cut my losses and keep 50/50 or keep fighting for modestly increased parenting time?

Help! Solo travel without language

I am traveling alone to Italy from the US later this month. I’m landing in Rome and have to make my way to Bagni di Luca for some family business (but family won’t be there to greet me). I don’t speak Italian and have no idea how to get around or where to stay or anything!

I think I’ll be ok in Rome since it’s heavily catered to tourists, and I believe there is a high speed train that will get me up north within an hour of Bagni di Lucca. Will I be ok arranging private transport for the last leg of the trip without speaking the language? Will I get the “tourist tax” applied since I’m so obviously American?

Grazie mille!
