How to setup the PS5 Jailbreak up to firmware 12.70 using Y2JB - MODDED WARFARE
youtu.beMy first PS5 12.70 Jailbreak Journey (YarP2JB + Mac/Windows Setup) — Successes, Failures, and Learning!
Hey everyone,
I was successfully able to jailbreak my PS5 Disc Edition running firmware 12.70.
Since 12.70 information can be scattered, I wanted to write a quick breakdown of what I tried, what failed, and what actually worked to save others some major headaches.
My setup uses the matem6/YarP2JB repository (v1.0) porting the cr_ref leak via the Yarpe visual novel game Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers as userland exploit ((I went with restore method since I have PS5 version of the game). I am controlling everything from a Mac Terminal and the PS5Upload desktop utility.
** What Success Looks Like (My Current Stable Setup)**
- The Exploit Loop: Takes exactly 45 minutes to tick from Stage 0 to Stage 9. You just launch the game, click "Load Game," and select the custom cat image save slot to open port 9025. This is where I send the p2jb.py payload to start the jailbreak process.
- The Payload Chain: I send itsPLK's Payload Manager (pldmgr-v0.1.1.elf) immediately on port 9021 right after Stage 9 finishes. Through its web dashboard on my Mac browser, I configured an automated startup sequence by moving my .elf tools directly to internal storage:
- ps5upload-2.22.0.elf — To enable lightning-fast connectivity with the PS5Upload desktop app.
- nanodns.elf — Minimal background proxy acting as an instant update blocking shield.
- Kstuff Lite 1.2-dr-test1.elf — Using Drakmor's source build for high-firmware stability (EchoStretch's variant kept causing panics).
- ShadowMountPlus_1.6test12.elf — Automatically mounts direct game folders.
- ftpsrv-ps5.elf — Back-up daemon for raw FTP file transfers using FileZilla on port 2121 just in case if needed.
- Network & Safety: Set the PS5 Primary DNS to 127.0.0.1 (Secondary to 0.0.0.0). The connection status safely reads "Internet Connection: Failed" because nanoDNS is doing its job and dropping Sony's telemetry traffic.
- Gaming Performance: ShadowMount Plus automatically toggles Kstuff Lite off 45 seconds after a game boots to give a massive FPS performance boost / zero stuttering, and auto-toggles it back on when I exit.
- Rest Mode Stability: Leaving the console in Rest Mode keeps the kernel state perfectly intact forever. I can wake it up and jump straight into games instantly without waiting 45 minutes or touching my Mac terminal.
** What FAILED (And How I Fixed It)**
1. Massive Kernel Panics (KP) with Elf-Arsenal & Ecostrecth Stuff lite Payloads
- The Failure: Elf-Arsenal was a massive "NO" for me. It consistently triggered instant Kernel Panics upon deployment. Furthermore, using EchoStretch's default Kstuff-Lite payload caused severe system crashes the second any game installation glitched or hit a loading snag. I ended up having to redo the full 45-minute exploit chain five separate times before isolating the memory allocation conflict.
- The Fix: Completely abandoned heavy all-in-one payloads. Switched to using phantomptr's standalone PS5Upload desktop app on my Mac. It automatically verifies privileged install enabled (meaning Kstuff is securely hooked into the kernel) and pushes files smoothly.
- The Result: Sticking entirely to the lightweight individual .elf file sequence listed in my chain above has provided an un-splittable, rock-solid jailbreak. I wake from rest mode and put it back down (just make sure to close your active game before entering rest mode). It’s been 2 full weeks with zero kernel panics (touchwood!).
2. Corrupted Network Transfers & Broken Game Dumps
- The Failure: Sending game dumps via Elf-Arsenal's interface continuously resulted in un-launchable application tiles, black screens, or games crashing on load due to silent network packet dropouts.
- The Fix: Pushing extracted raw game folders directly over a stable network link using the PS5Upload desktop app completely resolved the file corruption. The tool handles folder staging and background directory mapping perfectly.
- The Result: I have successfully verified and played the following titles from my internal storage with zero lags, crashes, or lock symbols:
- Resident Evil Requiem (PS5 game dump)
- EA Sports FC 26 (PS5 game dump)
- Need for Speed Unbound (PS5 game dump)
- Overcooked! 2 (PS4 FPKG installed natively via USB back ports)
** TL;DR / Conclusion**
If you are on 12.70: Stay away from heavy all-in-one payload managers. Keep your configuration minimal to avoid overcomplicating memory addresses and triggering Kernel Panics.
Stick to a lightweight loop of pldmgr + nanoDNS + Drakmor's Kstuff Lite + ShadowMount Plus. It is al you need! Push your PS5 folder rips (TitleID-app) via the PS5Upload desktop tool over network paths directly to /data/homebrew/. Install your PS4 .pkg games locally from an exFAT USB drive, lock your kernel in permanently via Rest Mode, and you'll have a rock-solid, high-FPS setup!
Huge shoutout to this community and the developers making this possible! Let me know if you have any questions about the Mac terminal commands, and drop a comment sharing your own experiences jailbreaking 12.70!

youtu.beI am on v12.7 with SWRR installed in Feb and tested with Luac0re 2 earlier.
I have purchased the game and installed the game in Feb and now as I hear about 12.7 jailbreak could be released later I opened the game to see and it says "Your access to this game might need to be refreshed. To keep playing, try connecting to the internet or purchase the same if you haven't."
Any one facing this?
I am able to open and play other purchased games except this one
What am I suppose to do? Please help!
